    What is complementarianism?

Why do we care about this doctrine?

How should theological method play a role in the complementarianism discussion?

What arguments are put forward in regards to trinitarianism?

Our views on complementarianism have to live in the tensions of scripture: What is New Testament preaching? How do we synthesize 1 Cor. 14 with 1 Tim. 2? What is the nature of authority?

What offices of the church are available to men?

What offices of the church are available to women?

    Helpful Definitions:

Complementarianism: All humans, both male and female, have been created in God’s image. We share in dignity, power, authority, the mission of God; but men and women are not interchangeable; they are distinct.

Theological method: How do you appropriately draw conclusions from the bible.

Eternal functional subordination: A position that subordinates the Son’s divine will to the Father’s divine will.

    Afspelen
Jen Wilkin, JT English, Kyle Worley, and Mason King discuss the history and theology of the Lord’s Supper. Lees meer

    Questions Covered in This Episode:

The Lord’s Supper is one of two ordinances/sacraments. What is an ordinance or sacrament?

Where would we go in the bible to talk about the Lord’s Supper?

How does the Lord’s supper connect with broader biblical/theological themes?

What is happening in the Lord’s supper?

What are the different views on the Lord’s Supper?

    Helpful Definitions:

Ordinances: Baptism & the Lord’s Supper are the means by which the people of God rehearse the story of God communally.

Transubstantiation: The bread and the cup are literally transformed into the body and blood of Jesus. Jesus Christ’s presence is in the elements in a physical way.

Consubstantiation: Christ's presence is physically there but not that the elements are actually the body and blood of Jesus. His presence is in and around.

Spiritual Presence: In the elements and in the proceedings of communion Christ is spiritually present with his people.

Momoralism: Christ is not uniquely present physically or spiritually in the Lord’s supper. It is simply a sign of remembrance.

Eutychian: Confusing the divine and human properties of Jesus.

Nestorian: Separating the two natures of Jesus so that they are no longer the same person.

  44. #28 – Lightning Round: Q&A with Mason King

    27 december 2018 · 54 min

    Afspelen
Jen Wilkin, JT English, and Kyle Worley hit on several topics, like the Trinity, gluttony, the age of accountability and more. Lees meer

    Questions Covered in This Episode:

RE: Matt. 24:32-36...if the Father and Son are one, how does only the Father know the hour “these things shall come to pass?”

How should we as Christians approach the topic of gluttony and personal health? How should we prioritize exercise and healthy food choices?

As Christians, are we able to live without sinning?

Does God speak to us through thoughts in our mind? For example, we ask God something, and the first thought that pops in our head is from Him?

Is there an age of accountability?

Lord’s Supper: Who takes it, how often, and why?

    Helpful Definitions:

Communication of Attributes: The relationship between the two natures and the one person of Jesus Christ. Jesus has all of the attributes of his divine nature and all of the attributes of his human nature.

Nestorianism: A Nestorian would admit the full deity of Christ. They would also affirm the full humanity of the person of Christ. It looks as if this is orthodox because they admit to both the full deity and full humanity but unfortunately they would not proclaim the unity of the person. They segregated the humanity from the deity. The belief that there was never a Christ who was fully divine and fully human at the same time.

Age of Accountability: The idea that there is a time in which a person becomes accountable to being able to confess that Christ is Lord.
