Over the years, I've had the blessing of writing books that reflect so many parts of my life's journey—my Catholic faith, my family, the struggles I've witnessed, the lessons I've learned, and the incredible power of God's grace.

From novels filled with unforgettable characters to spiritual reflections, devotionals, workbooks, and children's adventures, each book carries a little piece of my heart.

I recently wrote a song called "Stories from the Heart" to celebrate these books and, more importantly, the reasons I wrote them.

Some stories are meant to make you smile. Others may bring a tear to your eye. Some are written to challenge you, strengthen your faith, or remind you that no matter what life brings, God is never far away.

My hope has always been simple: If even one person finds encouragement, healing, laughter, or a deeper relationship with God through something I've written, then every hour spent writing was worthwhile.

🎵 I hope you'll take a few minutes to listen to my new song, Stories from the Heart.

📚 And I invite you to explore my books on Amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com/stores/Deacon-Pat-Kearns/author/B004XQOY9K

Thank you to everyone who has supported my writing, read one of my books, or shared my work with someone else. Your encouragement means more than you know.

Every book tells a story. Every story has a purpose. And sometimes, the right story finds us just when we need it most.

    God bless you!

🎙️ THE QUESTIONS WE ARE AFRAID TO ASK GOD
Episode 7 | The Catholic Journey with Deacon Pat Kearns

Have you ever looked back over your life and wondered if you made the right choices?

Maybe you spent too many years working and not enough time with your family. Perhaps there are relationships you wish you could repair, opportunities you let slip away, or dreams you never pursued.

And as the years pass, a difficult question sometimes begins to surface:

“God, what if I've wasted my life?”

It's a question that becomes especially meaningful as we grow older and realize just how quickly life passes.

In this seventh episode of The Questions We Are Afraid to Ask God, we explore the burden of regret, the fear of missed opportunities, and the extraordinary mercy of a God who never stops calling us.

Through the stories of Saint Peter, the workers in the vineyard, and the good thief on the cross, we'll discover that our mistakes don't have to define us, our accomplishments don't determine our worth, and it's never too late to turn toward God.

❤️ The fact that you arrived late does not mean you arrived too late.

Maybe your life hasn't turned out the way you imagined. Maybe you're carrying regrets that nobody else knows about. But God isn't finished with you.

There are still people to love, relationships to heal, acts of kindness to offer, and opportunities to grow closer to Christ.

Join me for this heartfelt reflection on growing older, finding purpose, accepting God's forgiveness, and discovering that the years ahead can still be filled with meaning.

You cannot go back and rewrite yesterday, but with God's grace, you can still change the meaning of tomorrow.

Have you ever wondered whether your ordinary, everyday life really matters to God?

You get up, go to work, take care of your family, pay the bills, and do it all over again tomorrow. Sometimes it feels as though holiness is something reserved for priests, religious sisters, missionaries, or people doing extraordinary things.

But what if the very life you're living right now is exactly where God is calling you to become a saint?

In this special episode of The Catholic Journey, we explore the remarkable life of Saint Josemaría Escrivá, the Spanish priest who founded Opus Dei and dedicated his life to teaching that holiness can be found in the most ordinary moments.

We'll discover how everyday work, marriage, family responsibilities, and even life's frustrations can become opportunities to grow closer to God.

His message is simple, yet powerful: You don't have to escape your ordinary life to find God. You can find Him right in the middle of it.

❤️ Whether you're a nurse caring for patients, a parent raising children, a grandparent enjoying retirement, or someone simply trying to make it through another busy day, this episode is for you.

Join me for this inspiring 7–8-minute reflection and discover how one saint's extraordinary message can transform the way you see your everyday life.

You don't have to live an extraordinary life to become a saint. You simply have to learn to love God extraordinarily in the life you've been given.

Episode 6 | The Catholic Journey with Deacon Pat Kearns

Have you ever wondered why people who lie, cheat, manipulate, and hurt others sometimes seem to have everything, while honest, hardworking, faithful people struggle just to get by?

Why does doing the right thing sometimes feel like it puts us at a disadvantage? And if God truly cares about justice, why does He allow dishonesty and wrongdoing to go unpunished?

These are questions that have troubled believers for thousands of years.

In this sixth episode of The Questions We Are Afraid to Ask God, we explore what Scripture teaches us about wealth, injustice, envy, and the difference between worldly success and a life that truly matters.

We'll discover why financial success isn't necessarily a sign of God's approval, why comparing our lives to others can steal our peace, and why choosing to do what is right is never wasted in God's eyes.

❤️ The world measures success by what we accumulate. God measures our lives by who we become.

Have you ever found yourself questioning something the Catholic Church teaches? Maybe you've struggled with a particular doctrine, disagreed with a Church teaching, or wondered whether having doubts makes you a bad Catholic.

    You're certainly not alone.

But here's an important question: Are we genuinely searching for God's truth, or are we sometimes looking for a faith that agrees with what we already believe?

In this fifth episode of The Questions We Are Afraid to Ask God, we explore the difference between questioning and rejecting Church teachings, why Jesus gave His Church the authority to teach, and how we can navigate doubts without abandoning our faith.

We'll also discuss what happens when the Church itself has disappointed or hurt us, and why the failures of individuals should never overshadow the truth of Jesus Christ.

There was a time when a father could hold his little girl in his arms and make her feel safe from the world.

But little girls grow up. They begin living their own lives, facing their own struggles, and making their own decisions.

And every father eventually realizes that he won't always be there to protect his daughter.

So what are the most important lessons he hopes she'll remember?

In this heartfelt second episode of our special series on fatherhood, we explore three things every father wishes he could teach his daughter:

❤️ Know your worth. You are beautifully and wonderfully made by God. Never allow someone else to determine your value.

💕 Never settle for a love that diminishes you. Choose relationships built on respect, kindness, faithfulness, and genuine love.

🙏 Have the courage to become the woman God created you to be. Follow your dreams, trust God's plan, and never allow fear to hold you back.

And perhaps the most important message a father could ever leave his daughter is this:

"You were my little girl for only a few years. But you will be my daughter for all eternity."

Whether you're a father, a daughter, or someone remembering a dad who is no longer here, this episode is a beautiful reminder that a father's greatest gift isn't his ability to protect his daughter forever, but the love and faith he leaves in her heart.

Many years ago, in a small Guatemalan village called Godínez, local farmers asked a teacher named Beto to open a school so their children could have a better future.

Beto had no money. But he had faith.

He prayed, listened to God, and began teaching children beneath a tree.

Decades later, that little dream has become a thriving school bearing his name. Countless children have been given opportunities because one man said YES to God.

    Today, Beto needs our help.

He recently suffered a serious stroke and now needs a pacemaker, medications, and ongoing medical treatment. His family simply doesn't have the resources to cover these expenses.

Beto and his wife Ruth opened their home to Liz and me when we lived in Guatemala. He taught me more about faith, generosity, and serving others than he will ever know.

I wrote this song to honor my friend and tell his extraordinary story.

    📖 John 6:60–69

What happens when following Jesus becomes difficult? When His teachings challenge us, our prayers seem unanswered, or life tests the very foundation of our faith?

After Jesus delivered His powerful teaching about the Bread of Life, many of His disciples turned away. Jesus then looked at the Twelve and asked a question that still speaks to every one of us today:

“Do you also want to leave?”

In this powerful final episode, Deacon Pat Kearns explores what it truly means to remain faithful when we don't have all the answers.

Through Peter's unforgettable response, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life,” we discover that genuine faith isn't about understanding everything. It's about trusting the One who does.

❤️ In this episode, we'll reflect on:

Why people sometimes walk away from their faith.

The difference between struggling with faith and abandoning it.

What Peter teaches us about trust and discipleship.

Why Jesus never promised that following Him would be easy.

How to remain close to Christ even during life's greatest challenges.

As we conclude this series, one truth stands above all others:

Faith isn't about having all the answers. It's about knowing the One who does.

🙏 Wherever you are in your spiritual journey, Jesus is still inviting you to follow Him.

🎙️ Episode 7 — “Why Do You Call Me Good?”

The Catholic Journey with Deacon Pat Kearns

    📖 Mark 10:17–27

Did Jesus actually question whether He was good?

A wealthy young man approached Jesus with one of the most important questions anyone could ask:

“Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

But Jesus responded with something unexpected:

“Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone.” — Mark 10:18

Wait a minute! Was Jesus suggesting that He wasn't good? Was He denying that He was God? Or was He trying to teach this young man something far more profound?

In Episode 7 of our series, Things Jesus Said That We Still Don't Understand, we explore this fascinating encounter and discover that being a good person and truly following Jesus aren't always the same thing.

❤️ One of the most beautiful moments in this Gospel comes when Scripture tells us:

“Jesus, looking at him, loved him.” — Mark 10:21

Jesus saw a man who had followed the commandments, lived a respectable life, and genuinely wanted eternal life.

But there was one thing he couldn't let go of.

And when Jesus invited him to surrender it and follow Him, the young man walked away sad.

Here's the question this Gospel asks each of us:

What is the one thing in your life that might be keeping you from following Jesus more completely?

Maybe it's money, pride, fear, resentment, the need for control, or simply the comfort of living life on your own terms.

🙏 In this episode, we'll explore why Jesus challenged this young man, what true goodness means, and why God's invitation to surrender something is often an invitation to discover something greater.

Jesus doesn't simply want us to be good people. He wants us to become His disciples.

    And the most beautiful part?

Even when we struggle to let go, Jesus looks at us with love.

🎙️ Episode 5 — “I Came Not to Bring Peace, but a Sword”

The Catholic Journey with Deacon Pat Kearns

    📖 Matthew 10:34–39

Did Jesus really say He came to bring a sword instead of peace?

How could the same Jesus who taught us to love our enemies, forgive those who hurt us, and become peacemakers say something so shocking?

Was Jesus encouraging conflict? Division? Even violence?

Absolutely not. But His message may challenge you more than you expect.

In this powerful fifth episode of our series, Things Jesus Said That We Still Don't Understand, we explore one of the most misunderstood teachings of Jesus.

We discover that following Christ doesn't always make life easier. Sometimes it creates tension in our families, challenges our relationships, and requires us to stand firm when the world pressures us to compromise our beliefs.

❤️ And here's something especially important:

Many Catholic parents know the heartbreak of watching their children walk away from the faith. How do we remain faithful to Christ while continuing to love those who no longer share our beliefs?

Jesus reminds us that we don't have to choose between standing for truth and treating others with love.

Real Christian courage isn't about winning arguments. It's about remaining faithful to Christ without losing our compassion for others.

🙏 In this episode, we'll reflect on the true meaning of the sword, the cost of discipleship, and why the peace Jesus promises is so much deeper than simply avoiding conflict.

Here's a question worth asking yourself today:

Are you willing to stand for your faith, even when doing so comes at a personal cost?

In Matthew 10:34, Jesus said something shocking:

“I have come to bring not peace but the sword.”

But Jesus wasn't calling us to violence or hatred. He was reminding us that following Him takes courage, conviction, and sometimes sacrifice.

🎶 My new original rock song, “Not Peace, But a Sword,” brings this powerful Gospel message to life with driving guitars, explosive energy, and lyrics that challenge us to live our faith boldly.

❤️ One of my favorite lines from the song:

“I don't want to win the argument,
If it means I lose your heart.”

Because being a Christian isn't about winning arguments, condemning others, or creating division.

It's about standing for truth without ever abandoning love.

In a world filled with anger, division, and uncertainty, we need Christians who have the courage to stand firm in their faith and the compassion to love those who disagree with them.

🎸 Turn up the volume, listen to the message, and ask yourself:

Am I willing to stand for Christ, even when it's difficult?

🙏 I hope this song inspires you to be courageous in your faith, gentle in your words, and unwavering in your love for Jesus.

A song for a generation trying to balance life, faith, and everything in between.

Your 30s can be complicated. Careers, marriage, raising children, paying bills, chasing dreams, and sometimes wondering if you're becoming the person God created you to be.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, there's your faith.

Maybe you attend Mass every Sunday. Maybe you've drifted away from the Church. Maybe you still believe in God but have more questions than answers.

    This song is for you.

Being Catholic doesn't mean having a perfect life. It doesn't mean never questioning, never struggling, or never falling.

It means believing that even in our imperfections, God's grace is still at work.

It means remembering that the Eucharist is still there, God's mercy is still waiting, and no matter how far we've wandered, there's always a way home.

One of my favorite lines from this new song is:

🎵 "I'm not perfect, never claimed to be, but there's grace enough for someone like me."

I wrote "Still Catholic, Still Becoming" as a reminder that faith isn't something we finish learning in childhood. It's a lifelong journey of growing, questioning, falling, getting back up, and discovering just how deeply God loves us.

If you're in your 30s, I hope this song speaks to your heart. And if you're older, perhaps it will remind you of your own journey.

❤️ You don't have to have it all figured out to belong to God.

🎧 Take a few minutes to listen, and please share this with someone who might need to hear it.

The Catholic Journey with Deacon Pat Kearns

    📖 Luke 9:59–60

Did Jesus really tell someone not to bury his own father?

At first glance, these words of Jesus seem shocking, even harsh. How could the same Jesus who wept at the tomb of Lazarus tell someone to let the dead bury their dead?

But what if Jesus wasn't really talking about death at all? What if he was teaching us something profound about how we should live?

In this powerful fourth episode of our series, Things Jesus Said That We Still Don't Understand, Deacon Pat Kearns explores one of the most challenging statements in the Gospels.

We'll discover why Jesus calls us to put God first, the spiritual danger of constantly saying "someday," and how easily we can become so busy living our lives that we forget what truly matters.

❤️ Here's the question for today: What is God asking you to do that you've been putting off?

Maybe it's forgiving someone, returning to prayer, reconnecting with your faith, or simply telling someone you love them.

Jesus reminds us that following him isn't something we should postpone until tomorrow.

The time to begin is today.

🙏 Join us for this thought-provoking reflection and discover how these difficult words of Jesus can awaken us to a more meaningful, purposeful, and faith-filled life.

A Song About God's Unending Love and Forgiveness

Have you ever looked back at your life and wondered if you've made too many mistakes for God to forgive?

Have you ever carried guilt so heavy that you began to believe you were beyond His mercy?

I think we've all experienced moments when our past seems bigger than our hope.

But here's something I want you to remember today:

Your mistakes do not have to define your future. And your sins are never greater than God's mercy.

I wrote this song, “Mercy Still Calls My Name,” as a companion to Episode 3 of our series, Things Jesus Said That We Still Don't Understand, where we explore the meaning of the unforgivable sin.

The message is simple but powerful.

God never runs out of mercy. He continues inviting us to repent, return to Him, and receive His forgiveness.

No matter how far you've wandered, you can turn toward Him.

🎶 “No night too dark, no road too long, Your love is calling me back home.”

If you're carrying regret, shame, or something from your past that you've struggled to surrender, I hope this song reminds you that God has not stopped calling you.

His mercy still calls your name.

Take a few minutes to listen. And if you know someone who needs a little hope today, please share this song with them.

I sold my little white Kia Rio today. I’ve had it since 2016, and even though it was just a car, it was harder to watch it go than I expected.

It started out as Granny’s car, and somehow became part of my own story. For ten years it carried me through everyday life, mile after mile, eventually reaching more than 150,000 miles.

It certainly had its personality. 😂 The airbag light that refused to go away. The gas gauge that would drop to empty right after I filled the tank—only to magically come back a few miles later. Cruise control gave up years ago. The check-engine light liked to visit whenever it felt lonely. And lately, the engine had developed a few interesting sounds of its own.

But that little Kia kept going. And somehow it still managed around 30 miles to the gallon!

So I wrote this song as a funny farewell to a car that gave me a lot more years and miles than I ever expected.

It’s strange how something as ordinary as a car can become connected to so many memories. Maybe that’s why saying goodbye is a little harder than I thought it would be.

Thanks for the ride, little Kia. You did good. ❤️

And Granny… I took pretty good care of your car. Well… mostly. 😂

When You Are Growing Older Lees meer

Growing older can bring changes we never expected—slower bodies, changing roles, losses, memories, and the realization that there may be more years behind us than ahead.

But aging isn't simply about what we're losing. It can also be about what we're gaining: wisdom, perspective, gratitude, deeper faith, and a clearer understanding of what truly matters.

In Episode 14 of When Faith Meets Real Life, we explore how God continues to work in every season of our lives—and why growing older doesn't mean our story is ending.

Growing older isn't the end of your purpose. There are still pages left to write.

🎵 Did My Life Make a Difference? Lees meer

As the years pass, many of us eventually ask a deeply personal question: Did my life really make a difference?

Maybe the answer isn't found in accomplishments, titles, recognition, or whether the world remembers our name. Maybe it's found in the people we loved, the hands we held, the prayers we offered, the forgiveness we gave, and the moments we were there when someone needed us.

We may never see all the lives we've touched—but God does.

This song is a reminder that a life lived with faith, love, kindness, and service leaves ripples that can reach far beyond what we'll ever know.

Maybe heaven holds the stories we never got to see. ❤️

Sometimes the hardest act of faith is simply opening our hands.
We hold onto people, dreams, hurts, memories, and seasons of life that have already changed. But letting go doesn't mean they didn't matter—it means trusting God enough to place them in His hands.

In Episode 13 of When Faith Meets Real Life, we explore how surrender can free us from yesterday and open our hearts to whatever God has next.

“Lord, I give it to You.”

🌞 CHOOSE JOY! 🌞 Lees meer

Life won’t always be perfect. There will be good days, difficult days, laughter, tears, beginnings and endings. But through it all, there is still joy to be found.

    Joy is in our faith.
    Joy is in our families.
Joy is in the people we love.
Joy is in the simple blessings we sometimes overlook.

This song, “Choose Joy,” is a reminder that we don’t have to wait for everything in life to be perfect before we allow ourselves to be happy.

Today, I’m thanking God for Liz, Jeneah, Sean, Mackenzie, our family, and all the people who make this journey brighter.

And my wish for each of you today is simple:

    May you find joy.
    May you choose joy.
And may you share that joy with someone else. ❤️

    God bless you all!

Sometimes life looks nothing like we imagined. Doors close, plans change, prayers seem unanswered, and we find ourselves on a road we never expected to travel.

But a changed plan doesn't mean a lost purpose.

In Episode 12 of When Faith Meets Real Life, we talk about trusting God when the story changes—and discovering that He is still with us on the road we never planned to take.

“Your purpose did not disappear simply because your plans changed.”
