Realtalk: Industrial AI, LLMs and demand forecasting for retailers and intralogistics
27 juli 2023 · 35 min
Helmut Prieschenk, CEO from WITRON, and Franziskos Kyriakopoulos, founder of 7LYTIX from Linz, discuss ChatGPT, machine learning in logistics and demand forecasting for food retail. Both agree. AI technology offers a wide range of optimisation potential - also for optimising processes in the distribution centre as well as in the entire supply chain. But not only high data quality is crucial. Likewise, the experience of the people as well as the requirements of the consumers must not be forgotten in the data models. Lees meer

Why everyone in the industrial sector should use/try code interpreter maybe for predictive quality.

Peter and I would like to thank all speakers (Cees Snoek, Sepp Hochreiter and Marco Huber), all partners (Hannover Messe, Timecho and IONOS) and all participants of AI in the Alps. It was a pleasure for us. On the way home it was quickly decided: next year we will repeat the format: same time, same place. Actually we wanted to relax a bit the weekend after the event, but then Code Interpreter came. It is rare that Prof. Dr. Marco Huber is so enthusiastic about a tool. But the Code Interpreter has done it to him. The tool is fascinating, but please be careful with the data you enter. Marco explains his approach, but also what you could do with it in the near future. Lees meer

Requirements engineering for Machine Learning
18 mei 2023 · 53 min
Markus wrote an interesting article about the topic. Machine learning (ML) is used increasingly in real-world applications. In this paper, we describe our ongoing endeavor to define characteristics and challenges unique to Requirements Engineering (RE) for ML-based systems. As a first step, we interviewed four data scientists to understand how ML experts approach elicitation, specification, and assurance of requirements and expectations. The results show that changes in the development paradigm, i.e., from coding to training, also demands changes in RE. Lees meer

Why do you call TabPFN a revolution for data science?
2 maart 2023 · 50 min
Prof. Dr. Frank Hutter and his team presented a "radically new approach" to tabular classification. It is a new tabular data classification method that takes < 1 second & yields SOTA performance (competitive with the best AutoML pipelines in an hour).
So far, it is limited in scale, though: it can only tackle problems up to 1000 training examples, 100 features and 10 classes. It works best when all features are numerical and there are no missing values (but we believe when we focus on those cases we’ll also improve performance for them). How do you make data accountable? With an AI model.
8 december 2022 · 20 min
Michael Welsch is a mechanical engineer. His approach makes data accountable. A neural network learns to decompose and reconstruct a company's data lake, which it can only do if it learns to model the inner relationships step by step. The AI software is then capitalized on the company's balance sheet as a proxy for the actual data lake. Welsch presented his idea to some auditors and large accounting firms. They were also puzzled by the approach. Lees meer
