78 The Conquest of Makkah Part 3
12 maart 2014 · 1 uur 5 min
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi continues his lecture on the conquest of Mecca and he discusses some major conversions to Islam that took place in this time. Lees meer
We begin with the conversion of the uncle of the Prophet ﷺ, Abbas. When did he convert to Islam? This is a topic of a lot of discussion and controversy. Some opinions have been brought to the fore by the Shaykh and deserve a fair listen.
The next conversions to be discussed are that of Abu Sufyan ibn Al Harith ibn Abdul Muttalib who was the first cousin of the Prophet ﷺ and another cousin of the Prophet ﷺ named Abdullah ibn Umayyah ibn Mughira. The Prophet ﷺ accepts their conversion after a lot of compelling and pleading as they had not supported or shared the ideas and beliefs of the Prophet ﷺ with him many a time in the past despite being cousins.
The next magnanimous story of conversion is that of Abu Sufyan ibn Harb ibn Umayyah, the chieftain of the Quraysh. What a story this is! The sheer circumstances under which this magical and seemingly impossible event transpired is a lesson in itself that needs to be imbibed and inculcated. Please listen intently and be amazed by the Qadr of Allah.

Meanwhile, a sahaba named Hatib ibn Abi Balta'ah warns the Quraysh about the advent of the Prophet ﷺ into Mecca. Who is Hatib? He was a mawla from Yemen and now to one of the Quraysh. He had written a letter to the Quraysh which bore the same message and he asked one of the ladies to deliver this letter across in utmost secrecy.

After the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, the tribes of Banu Kuzaa (Muslims) and Banu Bakr (pagans sided by the Quraysh) had a sort of a raid and the Banu Bakr were assisted by Suhail ibn Amr, Safwan ibn Umayyah who gave them permission to venture outside of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah and commit this breach of trust.
The raid becomes a disastrous failure but the chieftain of Kuza'a, Amr ibn Salam al Kuzaee is angered beyond normal and he approaches the Prophet ﷺ and informs him of the breach of the treaty. The chieftain also asks help by giving three major points of consideration? What are they?
Abu Sufyan, the chieftain of the Quraysh, arrives at Madinah begging the Prophet ﷺ to annul the attack that has been planned by the Muslims for their breach of treaty. He receives no assistance from anyone in Madinah including his own daughter whom he had not met for 13 years, Umme Habiba RA.
The Prophet ﷺ makes an announcement that an expedition of large magnitude is going to be undertaken and that every male should be a part of it. The Sahabas were curious to know the destination but the Prophet ﷺ was adopting an approach of complete secrecy since he didn't want rumours to flare or even vital information to escape. 29 januari 2014 · 1 uur 7 min
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi continues from where he left off in the last video which is the events that transpired after the martyrdom of the three chiefs - Zayd Ibn Harithah RA, Ibn Rawawah RA and Jafar RA. Lees meer
The next point of discussion is the conclusion of the result of Battle of Mu’tah. Was it a victory or a loss for the Muslims? A variety of opinions are contemplated upon and some are listed as follows:
According to the position of Musa ibn Uqtah, Al Bayhaqi and Ibn Kathir, this battle was definitely a victory since the Muslims returned successfully with the least amount of causality, they got war booty and also because of the word of the Prophet ﷺ himself calling it a victory.
Historians such as Al Waqidi, ibn Sa'ad etc declare the Battle of Mu’tah to be a loss because the Muslims lost three major leaders along with their flag, the Muslims had to retrace their steps backwards but nothing of the sort happened with the Romans.
The position of Ibn Ishaq, Ibn Abdul Baar, Ibn al Qayyim certified this battle to be neither a defeat or victory because neither side attacked the other at the end of the battle , and neither sides took any prisoners of war. Many positions of the Sunnah come to light through this battle:
In the event of a death or tragedy, the relatives and friends should come to the forefront and offer assistance in any way possible.
Words of encouragement and consolation ought to be given.
Visiting the family of the deceased should be advocated but avoid socializing for extended periods of time. -

Why did this battle take place?there are many reasons among which are that it was to avenge the death of Al Harith ibn Umayr, the messenger of the Prophet ﷺ and also because this battle was sort of a prelude to the future battles against the Romans. The Prophet ﷺ wanted to ascertain amongst everyone including the Sahaba that Islam is a global message and it ought to spread its wings outside the Arabian Peninsula.
Who is Abdullah ibn Rawahah? He was an Ansari who participated in the treaty of Aqabah and he was the privileged one whom the Prophet SAW sent back from Badr to give the news of the success of Badr. What role does he play in this battle? Listen intently to discover details.
Zayd ibn Harithah RA, Jafar RA and Ibn Rawahah RA died martyrs in this battle and the grief and sadness of the Prophet ﷺ was beyond measure.

Seerah 72 Umrah Al Qadah
9 december 2013 · 1 uur 10 min
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi explores the nuances relating to the Umrah Al Qadah which they did to compensate for their missed Umrah at Hudaybiyyah. The Prophet ﷺ left from Madinah to Mecca in 7H with around 2000 muslims. Lees meer
Rumours were rife amongst the people of Quraysh that the Muslims of Madinah had been weakened due to being affected by diseases. Thus, in order to prove their good health, certain measures were exercised upon the insistence of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ such as raising their voices loud with Talbiyah, exposing their right shoulder while doing the Umrah and engaging in brisk walking around the Kaaba. And it did make an impression on the Quraysh as the rumours ended immediately.
The Prophet ﷺ married Maymunah bint al Harith RA when he was in Mecca for the Umrah. He released himself from Ihram before marrying her. There is conflict on this incident and Shaykh Yasir elaborates on them and puts our doubts to rest.
After Umrah al Qadah, three people from the Quraysh converted to Islam and this illustrates the magnitude of the impression created by the Muslims on the Quraysh. They were :
Amr ibn Al As - The statesman and politician of the Quraysh.
Khalid ibn Waleed ibn Mughira - genius of a military leader of the Quraysh.
Uthman ibn Talha - The keyholder of the Ka'bah. -

9 december 2013 · 1 uur 7 min
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi picks up the topic of the various letters and emissaries the Prophet ﷺ sent to various rulers after the battle of Khaybar. Lees meer
The first letter was the letter to Najashi which was a message to accept Islam giving the emperor the promise of Allah forgiving his sins and encouraging him to come to the religion of Allah.
The second letter was sent to Caesar, the emperor of Rome whose name was Heraclius. The Prophet ﷺ wrote to him to submit to the will of Allah and if done, he would be safe. Otherwise, he would have to face the wrath of Allah in one way or the other.
The next letter was sent to the emperor of Persia whose name was Khosrau bearing the same message as the above.

9 december 2013 · 1 uur 20 min
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi goes on to discuss the pointers regarding the marriage of the Prophet ﷺ to Zainab RA and what was the importance of this event. Lees meer
Zainab or Bara was a Qurayshi from the tribe of Banu Khuzayma whose mother was Umaima bint Abdul Muttalib. The Prophet ﷺ sent a proposal to her for his 'adopted son' Zaid Ibn Harithah RA who was called Zaid ibn Muhammad. But Zainab RA rejected this proposal initially claiming lack of calibre and status of the groom. But after the revelation of the verse in Surah Ahzab, she agreed.
When did the Prophet ﷺ marry Zainab? The marriage was a luxurious affair and it was the best till date. The speciality and the greatness of this marriage is illustrated in various Hadith. In Bukhari, Anas RA said "the verse of hijab were revealed regarding Zainab's marriage. And Zainab would boast to the other wives 'Allah has married me from above the seven heaven'." In another version she would say "as for you, your fathers and brothers married you off to the Prophet ﷺ, as for me Allah married me to the Prophet ﷺ". What is the story behind this? Shaykh Yasir Qadhi elaborates further.
There are 2 main versions to the story of the marriage of the Prophet ﷺ to Zainab RA and both versions have been explicitly explained also citing the pros and cons of each. Do listen intently to fully comprehend this event .
Zainab RA was called the mother of the orphans and poor and rightly so as she never ran behind money and lived a life of piety and simplicity. She considered money to be a Fitnah. In 20 H, she became the first wife of the Prophet ﷺ to expire. Umar RA prayed her janaza.

Seerah 68 The Battle Of Khaybar Part 1
9 december 2013 · 1 uur 13 min
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now moves on to the next major pre - emptive battle which resulted in the expulsion of the jews from the city of Madinah finally. He begins by giving a quick recap on the way they reached Arabia, their origins, the events that transpired and much more. Lees meer
The first tribe to be expelled was the Banu Qaynuqa followed by Banu Nadheer and then Banu Quraydha. The final tribe was executed for treason as has been elaborated upon in previous lectures. The first two tribes moved to Khaybar and began making their existence there. Their leaders were Huyayy ibn Akhtab and Salam ibn Abul Huqayq who were clear and hostile enemies of the Muslims in Madinah. They were the sole Jew troublemakers and threat for the Muslims and needed to be dealt with .
So the Prophet ﷺ gathered an army of 1700 men and marched towards Khaybar in the month of Muharram. After a long fight against the people of Khaybar, the Prophet ﷺ hands over the flag to Ali Ibn Abi Talib RA to take charge and do not return until they have testified that Allah is the One and only Lord and Muhammad ﷺ is His Messenger SAW. Otherwise, they will cease to be protected from the Muslims.
Ali RA killed Mirhab and claimed the biggest victory for the Muslims, after claiming the fortress of Na’im and As Sa’ab. With the defeat of the castle of Zubair, the Muslims proclaimed victory on one half of Khaybar. The other half of Khaybar constituted 9 mini battles and was certainly not a walk in the park for the Muslims.
Eventually, victory was achieved and so as a safety net, the people of Khaybar struck a deal which was lucrative to the Muslims. What was the deal? Listen intently and be mesmerised by the unique ways in which Allah’s Qadr works.
As a result of the battle of Khaybar, the Quraysh were now even more vulnerable and felt demoralised. The people of the land of Fadak also agreed to the exact same conditions as the people of Khaybar and hence, without even stepping foot there, Allah gifted the land of Fadak…

To release themselves from the state of Ihram which they had assumed when they had made the decision to got to Mecca, the Prophet ﷺ followed by the Sahabas shaved their hair, sacrificed their camels and headed back to Madinah.
Umar RA now feels the need to apologize to the Prophet ﷺ for his lapse in respect and regard for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So he tries his best to strike a conversation with the Prophet ﷺ but is met with no response. Finally, when the Prophet ﷺ calls him, he is elated and overjoyed beyond measure and this makes way for the Prophet ﷺ to recite the verses of Surah Fath which was Allah’s revelation to honour the Sahabas who had participated in the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah. Seerah 65 The Treaty Of Hudaybiyya Part 3
9 december 2013 · 1 uur 20 min
Shaykh Yasir delves into the events that transpired after Uthman Ibn Affan RA was sent to negotiate with the Quraysh. Lees meer
As Uthman RA entered Mecca, he was met with stiff opposition. But with the assistance of his cousin, Abaan ibn Saeed ibn Al Aas, he was able to enter Mecca easily.then, Uthman RA met with Abu Sufyan who is his cousin from the Banu Umayyah. The Prophet ﷺ had asked of Uthman RA to meet all the Muslim converts and comfort them and reassure them of Allah’s presence and help. These meetings and negotiations took a longer time than expected and hence the sahabas began to fear for Uthman RA and assumed the worst - that he had been killed.
The rumours reached the ears of the Prophet ﷺ and he decided to avenge the death of Uthman RA. A crier was sent to all the muslims that Jibreel AS has come down to the Prophet ﷺ asking the Muslims to give allegiance to him to pledge to fight the Quraysh to death. This oath was called 'Bayat Al Ridwan'.1400 sahaba participated in Baiatul Ridwan. As for the pledge of support of Uthman RA, the Prophet SAW himself took the oath on behalf of him. These people are given a status right after the Badriyoon.
When this development reached the Quraysh they sent an official delegation with Mikras ibn Hafs. But it was unsuccessful and hence, the senior most and highest level delegate, Suhail ibn Amr was sent to consolidate a negotiation.
The Prophet ﷺ and Suhail agree to form a treaty and Ali ibn Abi Talib RA was the scribe for this treaty. The following were the terms and conditions of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah:
There will be no fighting between the two parties for the next 10 years.
Any person was free to choose the party he wanted to pledge his support to.
If any Makkan went to Madinah, then Muslims would return him to Makkah, but if any Muslim from Madinah went to Makkah, he would not be returned.

Seerah 64 The Treaty Of Hudaybiyya Part 2
9 december 2013 · 1 uur 27 min
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi takes off from where he had left the previous lecture which discusses the strategies undertaken by the Muslims and the Quraysh during Hudaybiyyah. Lees meer
To counter the Muslims who were camped at Hudaybiyyah, the Quraysh launched a surprise attack from Tan'im at around Fajr. The plan failed miserably as the Muslims were more than prepared to tackle them and so the Quraysh had to surrender.
The next stage was the negotiations and how the constant exchange of emissaries took place to bring forth a mutual consensus. One of the leaders of Khuza'a volunteered to be an emissary and he was not Madani or Qurayshi - Budail. The first person to be sent for negotiation from the Quraysh was Uruwa ibn Masud who belonged to the tribe of Taqif. What transpired between these two parties makes up a chunk of the important lecture and should not be missed.
The Quraysh also send Al Hulays ibn Alkama from the tribe of Kinana to which the Prophet ﷺ sent a Qurayshi. Who was this? It was Umar ibn Al Khattab RA. Why was this choice made? Simply because of his strength and bravery. But in a surprise turn of events and citing valid reasons, Umar RA suggests to the Prophet ﷺ that Uthman Ibn Affan RA is the better choice of candidate. How so? Get your queries answered as we listen further into the lecture.
The suggestion is taken into account and is accepted by the Prophet ﷺ and so he send Uthman ibn Affan RA for a negotiation. What happens next?

During the 6th year of the Hijrah, the Prophet ﷺ dreamt that he was doing tawaf, wearing ihram and shaving his head all of which depict the Umrah. So, the Prophet ﷺ took this as a sign from Allah and shares his intention to do umrah. The Sahaba display intense excitement and they leave from Madinah to Mecca on the 1st Dhul Qa'dah, 6H.
The Prophet ﷺ reaches the miqaat of Madinah called Dhul Hulayfah, and he offers two rakat there before heading towards Mecca after which he assumed the state of Ihram. Then he consecrated the animals, and sent a sahabi Busl ibn Safwan al Kazaai to go to Mecca and gather information on the Quraysh. Busl informs the Prophet ﷺ that they have armed themselves and have sent Khalid ibn Waleed to camp near Kumayn - which is a plane right outside Mecca.
After having spent the entire day walking and well into the nightfall do they finally reach Hudaybiyya. This is when the camel of the Prophet ﷺ refuses to budge and everyone comes to a complete standstill. The Sahabas complain of the stubbornness of the camel. But they are rebuked by the Prophet ﷺ on their thought and instead he says that it is a sign from Allah and hence, should be adhered to strictly.
Hence, they camped there and went to the well of Hudaybiyyah where, the water had completely dried out which sent the sahabas into a state of frenzy due to lack of any more water with them.the Prophet ﷺ then showcased a miracle and with that water began to fill the well. The entire camp of sahabas of 1400 people drank from that well.

Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi divulges details on the reason behind calamities and tragedies in our lives and what is Allah showing us through them? Lees meer
Wisdom of calamities and musibah in our lives:
The Rabb is All Powerful and we are his abd.
To understand that our knowledge is limited.
No one has the right to challenge Allah on the happening of a calamity. Whenever we question Allah’s Hikmah, we do not portray belief.
When we are faced by a calamity,we can distinguish real faith from virtual faith of the creation.
When evils come, they bring out the good in people.
Allah wants us to taste the consequence of some of our misdeeds in this world.
It is a trial that brings us closer to Allah SWT.
Allah has praised patience in the Qur'an like nothing else. Patience can only come in the face of a calamity.
Calamities and afflictions remind us this world is not our ultimate destination. -

“And on that day, We shall present Hell to the disbelievers exposed (to their view).”
The Hell, with its different painful punishments will appear before us in its entirety and clarity and its mere observation itself is a dreadful punishment for us.
“Say: ‘Shall We inform you of the greatest losers in (their) deeds?” “Those whose effort is lost in this world’s life, while they think that they are working good deeds.”
We gather insight on the true meaning of being the biggest losers and how it would be.
“They are those who disbelieved in the signs of their Lord and meeting Him (in Hereafter) so their deeds became null, and on the Day of Resurrection We assign no weight for them.”
The verses imply that the disbelievers who denied the Divine Revelations and the Rewards of Allah have spoiled their deeds and hence, will not be worthy and respectable with Allah on the Day of Resurrection. He will not heed them, He will despise them since they have nothing which can be worthy and measurable. There will be no scale for them on the Day of Hereafter since they have nothing of worth to weigh on it.

Tafseer Surah Al Kahf Part 17 Story Of Dhul Qarnayn

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi divulges information from verses 83 too 98 that deal with essentially the story of Dhul Qarnayn. Lees meer
“And they ask you about Dhul Qarnayn. Say: ‘I will recite unto you a remembrance of him’.”
The beginning of this verse shows that the story of Dhul Qarnayn was being discussed among people before they came to the Prophet SAW. why was it such an interesting topic? The Tafsir by Shaykh Yasir puts to rest many questions that intrigue us and deserves a fair listen.
Some pointers from the Tafsir are as follows:
This story teaches us that no work can be fully done in this world without its means. Therefore, Allah gave the means of success to Dhul Qarnayn.
No government can embrace victory without encouraging people and punishing the evildoers. This is the very principle which Dhul Qarnayn utilized.
A vast just government cannot turn away from the varieties of the life of people and their different conditions.
Security is the foremost condition of a safe social life which is why Dhul Qarnayn undertook the most laborious works to provide it with them.
An able leader must be content with what Allah has bestowed upon him and should not be greedy for wealth.
Power, vigour, cleverness, wealth and authority should never shroud greatness in works which was beautifully shown by Dhul Qarnayn. -

If one needs something to be blessed, one should ensure for it to be associated with Allah.

The rewards of losing a child.
Attributing negative to self and positive to Allah SWT.“And as for the lad, his parents were believers, and we were afraid he would impose on them insolence and disbelief.” “So we did intend that their Lord should change him for them for one better in purity and nearer in affection.”
In this verse, the Qur’an refers to the secret of the second event - the murder of the lad.
“And as for the lad, his parents were believers, and we were afraid he would impose on them insolence and disbelief.”
If that boy continued to live then he would have been a source of disgrace or creation of one for his faithful parents.
Finally, in order to remove any doubt from Mus AS, Khidr assured Musa AS that he did not perform any of the deeds at his free will, but it was the command of Allah that he followed. And, this was the mystery that Musa AS could not bear patiently.

Now I will inform you of the interpretation of what you could not bear patiently’.”
“…He (Musa) said: ‘If you had wished you could have taken a wage for it!’”
Musa AS thought that the action of Khidr was not just that a person might sacrifice like that for a group of people who were so mean. It was at this exact time that the separation of the learned man and Musa AS took place due to inability of Musa AS to execute patience on his part as he had promised earlier.

Shaykh Yasir begins with verse 45 where Allah SWT has summarised the story of the two gardens beautifully. The verse delves upon the plants and pleasantness of the earth, and, then, the appearance of the Divine Wrath which caused them to turn into ashes. This serves as a warning for the haughty who are neglectful of Allah.
In the next verses, Allah has defined the position of wealth and the power of man - the two main pillars of the life in this world.
The Quran explains the three stages pertaining to the Hereafter and they are - the one before the resurrection of human beings, the Resurrection itself and the events after Resurrection.
The recorded document will exhibit all our deeds before us which will be an embodiment of our good and evil actions, injustices and justices and vices and treacheries.
In the final verses, Allah SWT asserts that for the creation of the heavens and the earth, the creation of Iblis and his progeny, He did not need anyone’s help. Therefore, His power is complete and He is not in need of the help of Satans and hence, it is binding upon us worshippers to only obey Allah and no one else.

The verses in this lecture bring forth an exchange of words between the faithless and the faithful man and how each conversation is a comparison of what each has and how content he is with it. The faithful said that he was honoured that his Creator and his Sustainer was Allah.he also admonished his friend for being pride and haughty and glorifying the life of this world, while he glorified his belief, faith, and monotheism.
The faithless man happiness was short lived as Allah had commanded for his green gardens and his arrogance and stupidity was realised by him to the fullest on seeing a barren and annihilated land in the place of his fruitful gardens of which he was so proud once.
This horrific sight made him comprehend his great mistake and he ultimately realised that the protection, guardianship and Power belong to Allah, the Lord Who is the Truth Himself.

Seerah – 61 The Tribe of Banu Quraytha

When the Prophet ﷺ is on the verge of return to his house after a month of fatigue,he is greeted by Jibreel AS who commanded the Prophet ﷺ to go to the Banu Quraydha and that he cannot pray Asr until he has reached his destination.
The first to reach was Ali ibn Abi Talib RA. The Prophet ﷺ told him to hold up the flag of Islam. He hears the people there speaking very ill of the Prophet ﷺ and tries hard to prevent the Prophet ﷺ from being in the vicinity of the dirty talk and tells him to camp far away.
The story of Abu Lubaba RA and his story of seeking repentance from Allah is a very interesting one and should not be missed. He is a great sahabi who has witnessed Badr but didn't fight. He also fought in Uhud and other battles and he has an excellent record to show his love for the Prophet ﷺ.
The Banu Quraydha surrendered on the 25th day of the seige after their supplies began to dwindle and there seemed no opportunity to escape of flee.
Next up for discussion is the judgement of Sa’d Ibn Muadh RA in the matter of the tribe of the Aws. What follows and his decision taken and how it is taken is a sheer work of art and it pleases the Messenger of Allah ﷺ no end.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now culminates the battle of Ahzab in this final lecture on the same. Here, the main point of discussion is the skirmishes that were happening amidst the Quraysh and the Ghatafan and how it turned out to be their own undoing. Lees meer
The weather also seems to have played a role that is paramount to the defeat of the Ahzab army. Hudhayfah ibn Yaman RA describes it as a night that was studded with thunderstorm, strong winds, tornadoes and nail biting cold.
He is sent by the Prophet ﷺ as a spy into the opposition army to find out about their innermost intentions. He goes as instructed and is delighted to return with the good news of their withdrawal of the army due to the inclement weather and the supposed treachery of the Banu Quraydha.
What did Allah use to realise the victory in the battle of Ahzab?
The imaan of the sahabah and the dua of the Prophet ﷺ.
Nuaym ibn Masud
The ignorance of the Quraysh with regards to the rules of the Ghatafan.
The duration of the war.
The armies of winds and angels sent by Allah. -
Seerah - 59 The Battle of Khandaq Ahzab P3
11 augustus 2013 · 1 uur 16 min
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi now continues from where he left off , that is, the backstabbing act of the flipping of the alliance of Banu Quraydha. Lees meer
When the Prophet ﷺ had confirmed information that the shift was indeed true, he split his contingency of the army and sent one part to guard the fortress having the women and the children and the other part guarding the entry and exit of the trench.
When the Quraysh reached their destination, they were completely baffled by the trench realising their inability to charge and so they just sat it out and waited since there was no dearth of supplies whatsoever.
As an aftermath of this battle, the death of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh RA was the most grievous and upsetting. He is the chieftain of the Aws and was the earliest converts to Islam under Musab ibn Umair. Sa'ad was the one for whom the angels prayed his janazah and took his body up and for whom it is narrated in Bukhari that the throne of Allah shook at the death of Sa'ad.
A major development that turned the tide for the Muslim army was the advent Nuaym ibn Masud Al-Ghatafani from the tribe of Gatafaan. He was the one whom Allah chose to undo the opposition army completely.
On the instructions of Prophet ﷺ, he commences his plan by going to the Banu Quraydha and then the Quraysh and plants the seeds of doubt among them. How does he do that? What does he say that make the tribes believe him easily? What is the outcome of this ? Listen intently and be mesmerised at how this incident sets the base for the destruction of the Ahzab army.

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi continues on the topic of Battle of Khandaq and discusses the severe food shortage at the time of this battle when the sahabah would consume dried barley with oil and such bare minimums. Lees meer
Many miracles of the Prophet ﷺ are depicted during the preparation for the battle -
The quantity of food prepared by Jabir RA wife and how it increased and was sufficient for more than a 1000 people because of dua made by Prophet ﷺ over it.
The stone that broke whilst digging when the Prophet ﷺ made Dua though it was not breaking even after various attempts by the sahabas.During the crumbling of the stones, the Prophet ﷺ had said about conquering Syria, Persia and Yemen just as if he could see it in the form of various anecdotes - the key, the pillars and the doors respectively.
From the leaders of the opposition - the Quraysh, there were three leaders of importance:
Abu Sufyan - his actual name was Sakar ibn Harb ibn Umayyah. The Banu Hashim and the Banu Umayyah were rival clans. His son Muawiyah became the first 'king' of Islam and founded the Umayyad dynasty.
Uyaynah ibn Hisn - a crude, uncivilised, barbaric bedouin with immoral manners.
Tulayha - he was from the Banu Assad who had declared himself falsely to be a prophet.Around this time, a severe setback to the ongoing preparations came in the form of a complete drift of the Banu Quraydha’s alliance towards the opposition. Banu Nadheer meets the chieftain of of the Banu Quraydha, Ka'b ibn Asad al Quradi.
It instigated a profound fear in the hearts of the sahabas as they now were contemplating the effects this would have on the women and children in the fortress of al Fari and also the fate of the 2500 who were inside the trench.

Seerah 57 The Battle of Khandaq Ahzab P1
11 augustus 2013 · 1 uur 14 min
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi moves on to lay emphasis on the next major battle that was fought which is the battle of Khandaq or Battle of Ahzab that took place in the year 5H in Shawwal. Lees meer
What propelled the battle? It basically started off with an instigation of the tribe of Banu Nadheer. They wanted to avenge the humiliation they had received of being expelled from their lands because of their attempt to assassinate the Prophet ﷺ. So this resulted in the,m joining hands with the Gatafaan and Quraysh after solid tactics of convincing and offering returns in exchange for this support.
Abu Sufyan was the one who led the battle of Khandaq under who were 10,000 men whereas the Madinah Muslims were only 2500 in number. The Prophet ﷺ began contemplating on the ways in which to approach this battle and sought help from the sahabas as was the norm before every major Ghazwa.one of them - Salman al Farsi suggested that they should begin building a trench.
Henceforth, the Prophet ﷺ commanded for the trench to be built.10 people were assigned to build each portion of the trench which was approximately 2 km long, 13 ft wide and 7-9 km in depth. Next, was the issue of the women, the elderly and the children and the Prophet ﷺ commanded for them to be sent to Al Fari, which was the fortress of the Banu Harithah. Only one young man made it to this fortress - Hassan ibn Thabit. Why was he not made a part of the army despite being able enough to fight? Listen intently to fully fathom the reason. A brief biography of Hassan Ibn Thabit RA is also shared so as to understand his unwillingness to fight or hold a sword.
Building a trench isolated the Prophet ﷺ and his fleet of sahabas from the outside world and this also resulted in a shortage of food supplies. They had built this trench as a mere stalling tactic to avert the opposition and fully relied on Allah’s help which they firmly believed would be theirs soon. And that is exactly what happened as we shall see in the next lecture. Do not m…

Seerah 56 The Slander of Aisha RA Part 2

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi delves deeper into the reason behind the slander of Aisha RA which was the need for revenge by the hypocrites after Allah had exposed them in Surah Munafiqun.Abdullah ibn Ubayy capitalised on the opportunity the minute he saw it and sought to get even through Aisha RA. Lees meer
Here we see a mention of her aunt - Umme Mistah who was in fact Abu Bakr RA sister. And how a conversation with her makes her aware of the fact that a filthy and evil act of slandering against her has begun in her vicinity. She then rushes to her parents house after seeking permission from the Prophet ﷺ who sees that something is amiss about her.
When she reaches her parents home, she expresses her shock about whether people are actually indulging in this horrible act and this shoes us the innocence and sensitivity of Aisha RA and how this made her cry endlessly.
Three others of the sahabah made it even more difficult as they were prime factors in the spreading of this disgusting rumour and they were -Mistah (Aisha's RA second cousin), Hamala bint Jahsh, Hasani bint Thabit.
Testimony is sought from Ali RA and Usama bin Zaid RA by the Prophet SAW and each of them suggest the Messenger of Allah what they think. Then the help of Bareerah, the maid servant of Aisha RA is called for in citing details on the matter that transpired that night.
The end to these false rumours and the horrendous slander of Aisha RA came in the form of Allah’s intervention through verses and revelation to the Prophet ﷺ. The first section of Surah Nur is a firm declaration on the punishment that shall be meted out for slandering .
This story reasserts the honorable and high stature of Aisha RA. She is the mother of the believers and is pure, the daughter of the pure, and she is the wife of the Prophet ﷺ. Her purity and dignity has been verified by Allah SWT and one who does not uphold this is not from among the Muslims.

In this lecture, Shaykh Yasir commences with a brief discussion on Zaid Ibn Thabit and how he was instrumental in many important decisions from an Islamic point of view. Why was he chosen from the Sahabas to learn Hebrew? Listen intently to find out. Lees meer
A major event that happened in and around the same time was the blessed birth of the grandson of the Prophet ﷺ - Al Hasan ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib RA. And then followed the birth of Husayn Ibn Ali Ibn Abi Talib RA in the very next year. These two grandsons have profound status in Islam and merit huge amounts of respect for what they shall do in the future in the way of Islam.
The rules of Azaan in the ear after birth, the rulings related to Aqeeqah and many such positions were elaborated upon at this time.
"Hasan and Husayn are the leaders of the young men of Jannah and there father is better than them." This was a famous hadith regarding these stalwarts of Deen.
The next major incident that occured is the expedition of al-Muraisi and Banu al-Mustaliq where al-Muraisi was the location and Banu al-Mustaliq was the tribe. They were siding the Quraysh against the Muslims on multiple occasions. Al-Haairs was the chieftain of the Banu al-Mustaliq.
When the Prophet ﷺ heard of the plans of Banu Al Mustaliq and their evil intentions against the Muslims, he made an expedition with 700 sahabas during 6 H and they achieved an easy victory over them. How did this happen and who proved helpful here? Shaykh Yasir answers beautifully.
Two major events took place after the expedition of Al Muraisi:
The capture of the daughter of the chieftain of the Banu Al Mustaliq tribe, Juwayriyya bint al-Harith and her subsequent marriage to the Prophet ﷺ.
The embracing of Islam by the entire tribe of Banu Al Mustaliq. -
