In the second week of our series ANCHOR, Pastor Ben Stuart brings a timely and important message about the radical grace of God. We are not only reconciled with God through the cross; the cross also restores relationships with each other. The gospel is not worth preaching if it does not have the power to break down the wall dividing ethnic groups. The grace of God is so radical that it makes enemies not just into friends but into a family.

Life is Hard — God is Good
18 mei 2020 · 40 min
Almost nothing is guaranteed, except for two things: Lees meer
Life is Hard. God is Good.
That’s it; those are the two guarantees we’re walking away with today. The first one, life is hard, no one ever really had to teach us. The second one is a whole different story.
God is good… all the time.
So what happens when that truth faces off against real life? What happens when we are confronted with the truth that the story of Jesus-followers is a story of hardship? How do we reconcile the mountain of victory we’re standing on with the hardship the story of our spiritual lineage holds?
We embrace it and we look at the life of Paul.

It's Okay to Freak Out

How Will We Make It?
6 april 2020 · 35 min
These days are hard. They aren’t what we planned, and there’s no end in sight. So how are we supposed to not only live through these days but to live well in the midst of them? Lees meer
The answer can be found in the book of Hebrews.
But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, (you came out of the blocks strong!) sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one. Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.
Hebrews 10:32-36
Endurance, we need endurance.
Here’s the good news. You can have it.
So how do we gain the endurance we are going to need in order not only to endure the days ahead but to excel in them?

Where is God?
30 maart 2020 · 40 min
Where is God? Lees meer
It's a valid question and one that no one should feel shame about asking. One of the wonderful attributes of God is that He isn't afraid of our questions. Our searching for God gives Him another chance to put His Glory and His overarching story on display.
Besides, this is hardly a new question.
Overwhelming? Yes.
Original? No.
It's the very same question that has bounced around the minds of believers and skeptics for thousands of years.

20 Inches to Mercy
23 maart 2020 · 41 min
What the world needs most today, what our cities and communities need most today, what we all need most today is a spiritual awakening. Here’s the good news. Lees meer
It’s possible.
Right now, God is closer to you than you think.
How close?
Twenty inches. Twenty inches is all that separates you from, “then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
It’s the twenty inches between your knees and the ground. It’s assuming a position of kneeling before the mighty God and admitting that you need help. Twenty inches to go from death to life. Twenty inches that change your story from, “I was a victim of circumstance,” to, “I found Jesus, and He stood me up victorious.”
God is closer than you imagine today, and He’s calling you. Will you answer?

Why Christianity is Not a Crutch
16 maart 2020 · 30 min
"We have never seen anything like this." Lees meer
How many times have you heard that this week? We're living in unprecedented times to be sure, but are we on our own? Whenever faced with times of uncertainty, doesn't it feel like we hear people taking one of two stances? Either we believe that our hope and confidence is in a sovereign God who always has and will always have a plan for our good and His Glory, or we can believe that in one way or another faith in God is simply a crutch to lean on when we aren't strong enough to face what is right in front of us.
But Christianity is not a crutch.
—
This week Pastor Louie Giglio continues our VICTORY series with a message that is timely to the days we are living in. Teaching out of Mark 2:1-12 Pastor Louie reminds us of a few critical things:
1. Our faith can move the heart of God and impact the eternal destiny of someone around us.
2. The paralyzed man's problem was bigger than he thought.
3. Jesus didn't offer a crutch. He healed him.

The Spiral of Sin and Temptation - part 2
9 maart 2020 · 43 min
Do we have to sin? Lees meer
What a question.
Here's another one: are we sinners trying to act like saints, or is it possible that we are saints who have the ability to choose sin?
—
God. Is. Faithful.
Three words that change everything reminding us that sin is not the end of our story. God has provided a way out so we can endure and escape the temptation to chose anything other than Him.
So, do we have to sin?
No.
Do we need the grace of God? Yes.
Do we need the mercy of God? Yes.
Do we need the forgiveness of God? Yes.
But do we have to sin? No.

The Spiral of Sin and Temptation - part 1
2 maart 2020 · 44 min
You can live in freedom. Lees meer
—
Thoughts that go unchecked long enough in our minds cause us to stumble and sin against God. It’s the enemy’s plan to let these thoughts fester and grow. However, we must remember that the work of Jesus is FINISHED. Not only has Jesus established a beachhead for us to launch into #Victory—he has provided us with blueprints of the enemy’s plans. In the power of the Holy Spirit and the knowledge of how the enemy operates, we defend our thoughts and break the cycle of sin and temptation! Join us next week as we dive into practical steps to defend ourselves against the enemy.
To beat the enemy’s plan, it helps to know his thoughts. Look at the seven steps below that lead to the spiral of sin and temptation so that you can fight the enemy.
1. A temptation from the enemy enters our minds.
2. We act on that temptation and we sin.
3. There is usually momentary pleasure.
4. We discover sin’s hook.
5. We are met by feelings of frustration guilt and shame.
6. The enemy shifts to a new tactic - condemnation.
7. We find ourselves vulnerable, weak, isolated, empty and longing.

Winning the Battle of the Mind
24 februari 2020 · 47 min
“I’m going to win the battle of my mind because I have the power of the finished work of Jesus. I’m standing on victory and I’m going to move from that victory.”
- Louie Giglio
—
We can all relate to the feeling of having to contend for our thoughts, that's why this truth was so encouraging: Jesus has given us victory at The Cross, and through the power of the Holy Spirit the ability take every thought captive for his glory! Lees meerRemember, when Jesus died and rose on the third day, he rose to glorious and victorious life both now and forever. When He did, he gave this life to anyone who will put their trust in Him.
The battle in our minds is real; it's not something we can push away or ignore. We need to arm ourselves with Paul's reminder in 2 Corinthians 10:5, "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
The week, Pastor Louie left us with a practical challenge. To exercise authority over our thoughts with these five steps:
1. Examine it. Question it. Where did it come from? Does it match up with God's Word?
2. Bind that thought before it binds you. Negative, tempting, or fearful thoughts will capture us if we don't take ahold of them first, rooted in the Word to know what God says about them. Let the Scripture sink in your heart and head so that the enemy can't short-circuit your calling or steal your purpose.
3. Change the narrative. Don't merely bind the bad but begin to think about whatever is pure and good and lovely and praiseworthy (Phil 4:8) and write a new story.
4. Act on that truth.
5. Repeat. What is the thought that is binding you today? Examine it, bind it, and speak the truth in its place and begin walking in victory, the νικος of Christ!

We Deliver

“Comfort is not a fruit of the Spirit. Neither is convenience. Neither is easy. The gospel is about moving out. So let’s not put limits on where the gospel is going to take us.” - Pastor Brad Jones Lees meer
—
Jesus has wired us with a mindset of reach so that others can receive the Good News of Jesus. The gospel is moving and the light of Jesus is spreading. Are you willing to move with it? Are you willing to deliver?
—
Key takeaways:
—
+ Jesus alone has the power to perform miracles, give life and heal our soul.
+ If you want God to use your life for the extraordinary, then posture yourself as a receiver.
+ Jesus is the bread of life. When we choose Him for spiritual nourishment, we will never go hungry.
+ The disciples were ready not to produce a miracle, but rather to participate in a miracle.

Week three of THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING is challenging to say the least. James is asking us to take a look at how we treat the people around us, how we act when no one is watching, and what it is that our actions say to the world about the God that we follow.

James, the brother of Jesus had one of these moments… he must have, after all he went from believing that his brother Jesus had lost his mind, to believing that He was the one true Lord and even dying for Him. As Pastor Louie Giglio kicks off our journey through the book of James, THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING, he is challenging us to open up our lives and let Jesus into the mix of all of it, to believe for an encounter with Him that will change everything.

Pastor Grant Partrick talks about navigating through the storms in our lives. Even if our thorns are not taken away, we must remember God is growing us in the storm and we must never lose sight on how He’s continuing to work in our story.

At Passion City Church we believe that because God has displayed the ultimate sacrifice in Jesus, our response to that in worship must be extravagant. It is our privilege, and our created purpose, to reflect God’s Glory back to Him through our praise, our sacrifice, and our song.

I'm not okay... but Jesus is.
14 oktober 2019 · 57 min
As the church, it can feel like we have to have it all together all of the time, to avoid talking about where we are, where we’ve been, or what we’ve walked through. Our prayer is that this message is just the starting place for us to let go of those expectations, to be a church where we open up and ask Jesus to use our stories in order to shine His light into the darkness. Because We Can
8 oktober 2019 · 42 min
“If we could see what happens when we pray, we would never cease to pray.” Everybody is a candidate to put their faith and trust in Jesus, and God wants you, a carrier of His light, to be in the story when they do. The Be Bright series may be over, but really it’s just getting started. As each of us goes out into our week, as we shine the light and love of God in our workplaces and classrooms, to our neighbors and to strangers, Jesus will be on the move, and when Jesus is on the move anything is possible. All Things to All People
24 september 2019 · 38 min
“We are God’s Plan A for reaching the city and the world.” Lees meer
In week three of our series, BE BRIGHT, Pastor Grant Partrick reminds us that although it may be intimidating to share the Gospel with the World if we can get the reward in our sight we will endure the trial because at the end of the day that is why we have been sent into it, to be bright.
“Even though I am free of the demands and expectations of everyone, I have voluntarily become a servant to any and all in order to reach a wide range of people: religious, nonreligious, meticulous moralists, loose-living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized—whoever. I didn’t take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ—but I entered their world and tried to experience things from their point of view. I’ve become just about every sort of servant there is in my attempts to lead those I meet into a God-saved life. I did all this because of the Message. I didn’t just want to talk about it; I wanted to be in on it!” 1 Corinthians 9:13-24 MSG
