Manifesting Your Goals with an Attitude of Gratitude | Twin Mom Alex Ward

Alex Ward is a full-time Real Estate Broker with Keller Williams in London, Ontario and is currently a stay-at-home mom of 4 kids, including her 3-year-old identical twin girls, her 5-year-old boy, and her 7-year-old girl. She and her Barbadian-now-Canadian husband, Chris, stay connected to family and friends in Barbados as much as possible. Alex has a background in teaching and coaching and brings what she used in those fields to her career in real estate, working with growing families just like hers. She loves reading, personal growth, fitness, spending time with her family, and traveling. Find Alex on Facebook, Instagram, and her website.
Alex's Top 3 Tips for Parents of Twins
1. Try your absolute best to get your twins on the same schedule early on…for your own sanity! Thankfully by the time our twins arrived, we had gone through infant schedules with our first two children. We knew roughly what we wanted and what we didn’t from the get-go, so if you’re not in this position, it may take a little trial and error, but it is SO worth it. If you can feed your twins at the same time, change them, play with them, bathe them and bed them both at roughly the same time, you may actually get some time for yourself, or at least time to reset and recharge for it all to start over again! Babies love routine and you will love it too.
2. Use some forethought and plan ahead. Whether you’re staying home or being brave and going on an outing with your twins, it’s extremely helpful to think ahead and plan for what your babies will want. When my twins were sleeping, I would be washing dishes, meal-prepping, doing laundry, and making bottl…

Two Bulls in a China Shop: Twins with Sensory Processing Disorder | Twin Mom Amanda Holman
11 augustus 2021 · 1 uur 1 min
Nat chats with Amanda Holman, mom to 4-year-old boys plus a 6-year-old singleton boy, about her twins' sensory processing disorder. Sensory processing disorder (SPD) is a condition that affects how your brain processes sensory information, including things you see, hear, smell, taste, or touch. SPD can affect all of your senses, or just one. SPD usually means you're overly sensitive to stimuli that other people are not. Amanda shares what she did to get her sons the help they needed through early intervention. Lees meer

Amanda Holman is a mom to three boys, Bryson (6), Kason (4), and Parker (4). She and her husband, Jeremy, have been married for 13 years. Amanda is the Director of College, Career, and Military Readiness for a school district in San Antonio, Texas. She spent 10 years teaching high school before moving to her current role. Amanda holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Agricultural Education from Tarleton State University and a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University - Kingsville. Although her professional life revolves around students, education, and developing leaders, she claims that it, in no way, prepared her for twin parenting. In her limited amount of spare time, Amanda enjoys watching Bryson play baseball, chasing her boys around their home, and spending time camping in their RV. Connect with Amanda on Facebook here.
Amanda's 3 Pieces of Advice for Twin Parents
1) Don't ever, for one minute, worry about what other people think about your parenting. Especially if they don't have twins. You are killing it!
2) Live in the moment. They are only this little today. So let the house be messy and the laundry pile up while you play.
3) Pick your battles, especially with twins! Sometimes the 5 minutes of quiet and coffee is worth the 30 minutes to clean them up after playing in the mud!

Kenny's 3 Pieces of Advice for Twin Parents
1. Folks will offer up a ton of advice, but learn to trust your own instincts, as well as your partner's. Together, you are the ones defining the value system, boundaries, and traditions that you want for your family.
2. Build your team of support - from good pals to a virtual community. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
3. Find the funny when you can and go easy on yourself when you think you might have messed up. Raising multiples isn't a cakewalk, so laughter and self-compassion come in handy during the gnarliest of times.

Liz uses her years of experience to guide her through the twists and turns of parenthood, specifically toddler behaviors. Today, Liz hopes to share a few tools to promote positive, healthy behaviors in the household.
Liz's 3 Pieces of Advice for Twin Parents
Routines – Establishing a predictable routine is easier said than done, so don’t be discouraged if the routine isn’t settling in right away. Routines are established through weeks and months of repetition. When established, life becomes a little bit easier and a lot less complicated. A predictable routine will come in handy when twins go from babies to toddlers. Doing the same thing every day may be boring to us, but for our children, it lowers their cortisol levels and keeps them from feeling anxious about what’s coming next. Routines establish clear expectations. Allowing parents to become a partner in the routine, rather than a dictator. Thus alleviating the power struggle of day-to-day tasks many of us face with toddlers.
Plan individual quality time – From the moment twins are born, they are grouped together. Mostly out of convenience and survival. As they transition from baby to toddler, personality and interests explode. With so much going on during the day, one of you and two of them, you may find it challenging to devote undivided attention with each twin. Carving out a single moment to spend quality time with your children, individually, allows you to deepen your connection, strengthen your relationship and take an uninterrupted interest in someth…

In the premiere episode of season 9, Nat chats with twin mom Elizabeth Agostino, mom to 4-year-old twin girls, about her tension-filled, negative relationship with her mother and how it's affecting her and her parenting. Lizzie also shares what she's doing now to try to break the negativity cycle with her own girls.

She gave up a corporate career to stay home with her twins when they were born. This was the single best decision she's ever made. She found a creative outlet in baking. It keeps her sane - barely. Find her on Instagram @vandcbaking.
Lizzie's 3 Pieces of Advice for Twin Parents
1. Twin momming isn't easy, find your squad - you'll need them.
2. Try to ignore people who "other mother"- no one knows truly what they're doing.
3. Figure out a schedule that works for you and stick to it.
What She Wants You to Take Away from This Episode
1. Working on yourself is the only way to break any toxic cycle.
2. Put your and your kids' mental health first, always.
3. Have confidence in yourself, don't look for validation from anyone.
