Ep 474 Phil Toledano
4 november 2026 · 50 min
This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, Zach Kazan welcomes Mister Enthusiast himself, Phil Toledano, to the show. Phil is the cofounder of Toledano & Chan, and much of this conversation focuses on how the brand’s latest watch, the B/1 Dazzle, came about. But there’s also a lot here about the nature of collecting and enthusiasm, the impact of social media on how we see watches, and many other tangents and rabbit holes. We also trace the history of the appeal of shaped cases, stone dials, and gem setting on contemporary watches, possibly back to Phil himself. Lees meer

Ep 473 Windup NYC 2026 Recap
28 oktober 2026 · 40 min
This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, we’re recapping the biggest Windup ever. Zach Kazan welcomes Worn & Wound cofounder and CEO Blake Malin as well as Lorier brand manager Ilya Ryvin to break down the show, talk about the future, and, yes, address those long lines. This is a really fun conversation that we think will shed some light on what goes on behind the scenes during a Windup, how the scale has changed over the years, and what it’s like to be on both sides of the booth during the busiest watch weekend of the year. Ep 470: Welcoming Taylor Mason, Worn & Wound’s New Media Director
7 oktober 2026 · 56 min
This week on the podcast, we welcome Taylor Mason to the Worn & Wound team. Taylor is Worn & Wound’s new Media Director, and we thought it would be a good idea to get him in front of the mic to introduce him to our podcast audience. Taylor is a talented filmmaker whose work will probably be familiar to many podcast listeners (he’s produced a number of videos with Worn & Wound, all of which we discuss in the episode). This conversation is all about getting to know Taylor: the watches he’s interested in, his approach to watch content, and more Lees meer

30 september 2026 · 44 min
This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, Zach Kazan and Zach Weiss sit down to talk about a string of new releases from brands both large and small. New watches from Rolex and Hublot (with Jeff Koons) were the big headline grabbers in September, but there were also interesting new watches from Grand Seiko, H. Moser (their most affordable watch ever, and it’s digital) as well as a deep cut Swedish indie. Lees meer

Ep 467: Poking Holes in Watch Industry Conventional Wisdom
16 september 2026 · 43 min
This week on the podcast, Zach Kazan and Kat Shoulders are interrogating some watch industry conventional wisdom. There’s a lot of it out there. From the idea that it’s the “story” that matters most in a watch, to the principle of “buying what you love,” and even the idea that everyone needs a certain type of watch in their collection. This is a fun conversation and Zach and Kat definitely poke some holes in some watch industry ideas that perhaps don’t stand up completely to close scrutiny. Let us know in the comments if we’re on the right track! Lees meer
And stay tuned until the end of the pod for some great cultural recs from Zach and Kat, including a produce recommendation from Kat (a first on the podcast) and one of Zach’s most watched trailers ever for a movie that looks absolutely insane.

Ep 465: Doug LaViolette & Brian’s Sheffield
2 september 2026 · 52 min
This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, Zach Kazan and Kat Shoulders welcome Doug LaViolette. Doug is the founder of the Brian LaViolette Scholarship Foundation, and recently collaborated with Sheffield on a new watch that honors his late son, Brian, and raises money for the foundation named for him, which has awarded thousands of scholarships to students all over the world. Doug tells us the story of his son, what the foundation has accomplished and hopes to accomplish in the future, and of course all about the watch itself. Mostly though, this is a conversation about community, and the great ways that watches and the people in this hobby can accomplish worthwhile things. Lees meer

Ep 464: Watches We Were Wrong About
26 augustus 2026 · 1 uur 3 min
This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, Zach Kazan and Cait Bazemore are holding themselves accountable and talking about the watches they were wrong about. After years of collecting and working in the watch industry, Zach and Cait have both realized there have been times when they were just plain wrong about a watch, or a preconceived notion about watches in general. In the spirit of reflection, this conversation focuses on watches we misjudged – things we liked and now don’t, or vice-versa. There’s also some discussion here about principles we’ve held that we’ve come around on in one way or another. It’s a fun conversation, and of course we welcome your input: what have you been wrong about in your time in this hobby? Let us know in the comments! Lees meer

Ep 463: How Collections Evolve
19 augustus 2026 · 56 min
This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, Zach Kazan welcomes Zach Weiss to the podcast for an old-fashioned discussion on the nature of collecting. Specifically, they’re talking about how their taste has evolved over the course of years. They drill down on how working in the industry, being exposed to a huge variety of watches, and the simple nature of time have changed their thoughts on what’s appealing, and what’s not. They also get pretty granular on specific watches from their collections’ past that represent a different era of their collecting journey, and reflect on why they’ve moved on, and what proved to be the catalyst for their moves. Ep 462: Summer Review Roundup: Sinn, Moser, the DWC Terra, and More
12 augustus 2026 · 1 uur 2 min
This week on the podcast, Zach Kazan is joined by Zach Weiss and Ed Jelley to talk about some of the watches they’ve each had in for review over these last few months. The summer is traditionally a slow time for the watch industry, so we took the opportunity to get as many review samples in the office as possible, and there have been a bunch of standouts. The conversation kicks off with a recap of Zach W’s review of the Otsuka Lotec No. 8, which Zach K. has been wearing a lot as well. And then Ed discusses his experience with the DWC Terra, an ultra-affordable field watch from India that has been having a bit of a viral moment as Ed prepares his review. Zach K. talks about a Moser that is (perhaps) a symbol of a changing brand, and Zach W. gets into details on a Sinn that feels like the opposite, a return to the brand’s roots. Lees meer

Our Favorite Watches Under $1,000
5 augustus 2026 · 1 uur 10 min
This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, Zach Kazan is joined by Kat Shoulders and Cait Bazemore for what might be, according to some, an exercise in futility: identifying three watches (each) under $1,000 that have been released this year. With all the chatter about rising prices (and Geneva Watch Days coming up, an event not known for its orientation toward value) the team thought it would be worthwhile to identify some truly affordable watches that have come to market recently. What they’ve come up with is a good mix of some of the usual suspects, as well as some surprising newcomers. Lees meer

Ep 459: How to Know When to Upgrade Your Camera
22 juli 2026 · 56 min
This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, Garrett Jones, Worn & Wound’s Lead Photographer, joins Zach to discuss something many of us have quietly (and sometimes loudly) wondered about: how do I know when it’s time to upgrade my camera? And what about all of our other gear? How do we know when we’re just justifying a gear purchase in the flimsiest way, versus timing an upgrade strategically? By the numbers, she is among the most followed female watch personalities on social media, and has become a fixture in the broader enthusiast and collecting community. Time on Screen: High Fidelity
7 juli 2026 · 58 min
This week on Time on Screen, Zach Kazan and Kat Shoulders explore High Fidelity, the cult hit starring John Cusack as a lovelorn record store owner from 2000. Why High Fidelity? Two reasons. First, it’s set in Chicago, and ahead of our Windup Watch Fair in the Windy City, we wanted to check out a Chicago set film. Second, this movie is truly about an entire enthusiast culture. There are more than a few similarities between the music obsessives in this film and watch enthusiasts we all experience on a daily basis. It’s impossible to watch High Fidelity as a watch person and not think about the person in your collecting circle who most reminds you of Jack Black’s character. Lees meer
We hope to see you in Chicago in just a matter of days for Windup! Let us know in the comments what other Chicago set movies we could have considered, and if you can think of other films about niche enthusiast communities.

1 juli 2026 · 1 uur 2 min
This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, Zach Kazan is joined by Zach Weiss to take a look back at the year so far. We’re about halfway through 2026, so it feels like a good time to think about some of our favorite watches of the year so far, as well as some of the biggest watch stories. This has actually been a very eventful year to this point, with too many great releases to name, and some major changes to the trade show scene which will have a major impact on 2027. Ep 455: Watch Writing Cliches, New Releases, and More
24 juni 2026 · 1 uur 1 min
This week on the podcast, Zach Kazan welcomes Kat Shoulders to the show to explore a topic first covered here: watch writing cliches. Zach and Kat run through some of the cliches mentioned in Zach’s original article and discuss whether these ideas hold up and why they happen in the first place. It’s actually an interesting conversation, and gets to the heart of how watches are covered in the media, and what approach should be taken. Ep 454: What’s Going on with Seiko? Also, Our Bagel Orders, Favorite Pizza Toppings, and More
17 juni 2026 · 1 uur
This week on the podcast, Zach Kazan is joined by Worn & Wound cofounder Zach Weiss as well as contributor Cait Bazemore for our latest Q&A session with questions submitted through the Worn & Wound+ Slack channel. Lots of great questions this month, including a whole bunch of non-watch questions, which we always appreciate. This month, the team tackles hot button issues like the most overrated and underrated pizza toppings, and, we’re finally doing it: our bagel orders. There are a few watch related questions in there as well if that’s what you’re still coming to the podcast for, including one about what’s going on with Seiko, and the most impactful watch of the year so far. This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, Zach welcomes Cait Bazemore to talk about her recent trip to Japan with Citizen to check out their Ec-Drive manufacturing facilities. Citizen is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Eco-Drive this year, so they took the rare step to open up their headquarters in Japan to media in celebration of the big event. In this conversation, Cait talks about what made this trip unique, setting it apart from the usual watch media press trip experience.
Today also marks the release of a new Horological Machine from MB&F, and Cait also had the opportunity to speak with MB&F designer Max Maertens about his latest creation for the brand ahead of its release. The HM12 “Guardian” is one of MB&F’s biggest swings to date (literally, it’s a very large robot…) and there’s a lot to unpack, so Zach and Cait spend some time talking about where this release fits in with the MB&F collection and their initial impressions of it after seeing it in person.

Ep 452 Summer Watches
3 juni 2026 · 52 min
This week on the podcast, Zach and Kat are talking summer watches. This is a conversation we return to every year, it seems. As the weather warms up, it becomes apparent that some watches are just better suited to the summer months. Zach and Kat each pick summer watches in three categories: favorite affordable summer watch, the summer watch they’ll actually be wearing this year, and a grail summer watch. Before that, they unpack and define the very nature of the summer watch, whether this is a completely made up concept, and why we’re drawn to certain watches as the temperatures rise. Lees meer

Ep 450: Royal Pop Reactions
20 mei 2026 · 56 min
This week on the podcast, what else could we possibly discuss but the launch of the Royal Pop? The new Swatch x Audemars Piguet collaboration has been the topic of conversation around the watch world, and it’s that rare release that has actually transcended our community and become a bit of a pop culture moment more broadly. The bioceramic pocket watch has proven to be divisive among watch enthusiasts, and the launch day itself was a mess, with many Swatch stores closing for the day thanks to unruly crowds. Zach Kazan welcomes Zach Weiss and Cait Bazemore to the pod this week to talk about all of it! Lees meer

Ep 449: Monthly Q&A: AP x Swatch, Grand Seiko, and Condiment Corner
13 mei 2026 · 55 min
This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, Zach Kazan is joined by Garrett Jones for our monthly Q&A episode. Questions this month cover topics like Grand Seiko’s release strategy, the best straps for summer, and, of course, condiments (we’re about the trademark “Condiment Corner” for use on this podcast). We also got a lot of questions on the new watches from Swatch and Audemars Piguet, which at the time of this recording were not yet announced. Literally minutes after hitting “stop” on the recording, the press release came through, and all was revealed. So you’ll hear a lot of speculation on this podcast about a watch that by the time you hear the episode will have been largely digested by the watch community, but hopefully listeners enjoy seeing how wrong (and how right!) we were in some of our thoughts on what might come from these very different brands. Ep 445: Previewing Watches & Wonders 2026
8 april 2026 · 1 uur 3 min
This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, Zach Kazan and Zach Weiss are previewing Watches & Wonders 2026, which at this point is just days away from opening. They discuss some of the fairly large changes that are in store for this year’s show, including the addition of Audemars Piguet and Sinn, a big change in location for Moser, and a host of satellite events happening at the same time throughout Geneva. There are also, of course, a few of our famously bad Tudor predictions. It’s going to be a big year for the Black Bay P01, we just know it. Lees meer
There’s also a pretty big launch today, at the moment this podcast drops. We’re finally seeing the new-look Universal Geneve, revived by Breitling CEO Georges Kern. This episode features a fairly deep dive on the Polerouter, as well as some speculation about where UG might be headed, and we also try to anticipate the enthusiast community’s reaction.
But before all that: Zach Weiss launched a watch brand! OraOrea, Zach’s new independent brand, launched on Friday with the Coriolis Pointer Date, and in this episode he shares some of his thoughts on the rollout and reception of the new collection.

Changing Gears: Gear Updates, Blade Show, & Upcoming Trips
6 april 2026 · 53 min
This episode of Changing Gears finds Kat and Garrett settling back into conversation after some time away, catching up through the lens of the gear that’s been shaping their daily lives. What starts with a familiar wrist and gear check quickly expands into a broader discussion on tools—watches, knives, cameras, and even keyboards—and how they intersect with both work and personal expression. There’s a thoughtful throughline on craftsmanship, particularly as Garrett shares the realities of launching a small-batch knife brand, highlighting the time, skill, and infrastructure required to bring a product to life. The conversation also touches on the practical side of creative work, from experimenting with lighter travel setups to navigating the limitations of mobile editing workflows. As always, the episode reflects the overlap between enthusiast culture and professional output, closing with a look ahead to upcoming travel, trade shows, and the shared experiences that continue to shape both perspective and process. Ep 440 : The New IWC Portugieser Chronograph Ceratanium, and Our Thoughts on Blacked Out Watches
4 maart 2026 · 46 min
This week on the podcast, Kat Shoulders is back to chat with Zach Kazan about her recent experience with IWC in Los Angeles. Most of what Kat saw she can’t discuss until Watches & Wonders embargoes lift, but the brand did drop a brand new version of their Portugieser chronograph in Ceratanium, and it has inspired a wide range of commentary across the watch community. Kat talks about her impressions of the watch itself, what makes Ceratanium special, and what its use in the Portugieser collection might mean for the future. Lees meer
They also chat about three recent pilot chronographs that have all been released in the last week or so from Sinn, Benrus, and Hanhart, three very different flavors of chronograph that still sit within a very specific niche. Ep 436: Our Watch Regrets
4 februari 2026 · 57 min
This week on the Worn & Wound podcast, we’re talking about regrets. Yes, we’ve had a few. Zach Kazan welcomes Kat Shoulders and Zach Weiss to the pod this week to talk about the watches they’ve bought and sold that they wish they hadn’t, and even some takes and loosely held opinions that have fallen out of favor. This one is a real stroll down memory lane and as you’d expect touches on a great deal of our participant’s collecting history. Lees meer
Before the team gets into their watch regrets, there’s a brief discussion of a few recent releases that simply because of their release dates feel paired in our minds. The new watch from Toledano & Chan and the latest Speedmaster represent two sides of the enthusiast spectrum in really interesting ways (and happen to be priced very similarly).

Ep 432: What We Did Over Winter Break
7 januari 2026 · 37 min
Happy new year! For this first episode of the Worn & Wound podcast in 2026, the team is here to check in on what they did over their winter break. Zach Kazan hosts Liam O’Donnell and Myra Shallan to discuss all the watch related and non-watch related shenanigans they got up to over their time off. Liam and Myra both ventured outside of New York City to visit friends and family, while Zach hunkered down, turned off notifications on every device, and watched a bunch of movies. No surprise there! This is a fun conversation with lots of little tangents about traveling with watches, vintage watch collecting, public transit, and maybe even a spirited conversation about Mr. Wonderful himself.
