I used to think anyone I wanted would be light years ahead of me and wouldn't even like me back. What I realized is that when you don't have something of your own, it's easy to depend on someone else to make you feel validated. Someone once asked me why God won't give them their godly spouse, and I told them it's because God is making them into one. The real question to ask yourself is, would you date you? That question made me realize I wasn't even where I needed to be to date the person I wanted.

He had a dream where everything was pure blackness, and all he could see was a glowing figure of himself on his phone. He knew exactly what he was looking at. Then he saw demons with clown-like devilish faces and reptile bodies swarming around that version of him. A voice told him this is what happens when you watch that stuff: you invite it into your life. He woke up sweating, like someone in a horror movie.

Most of us fight it like we're fighting fire with fire. Then we fall once and immediately go, "Now I'm a porn addict. Now I'm a backsliding Christian." We turn what we did into who we are. But the Bible says you're still a new creature, and the righteous fall seven times. Don't trust the lust. Trust in God.

I needed to be right, and it made me miserable. When I trust only what I see, I try to fix everything myself, and I end up in pure misery. I learned this when a T-Mobile mistake dropped my credit score 50 points, and I stopped focusing on Jesus. The debt collector never budged, but when I gave it up to God, my heart was free.
