  1. A Breakdown of Collin Sexton's Inconsistent, Perplexing Start as a Laker

    5 november 2026 · 22 min

The Lakers' new guys have, for the most part, contributed on the court and eased naturally into their roles, with two exceptions: Quentin Grimes, who's performed well defensively while feeling out his offensive lane, but for the most part, has found ways to help the team win. Lees meer

And then there's Collin Sexton, who seems completely out of sorts while trying to fit in. He's the only rotation player with a negative plus-minus and negative net rating. And no matter who he plays alongside, even Luka(!), the minutes with Sexton remain underwater.

What's going on and why? The Kamenetzky Brothers try to figure this out.

  2. Luka Dončić (40/9/7) and Excellent Defense Lead Lakers to 116-103 Win in Sacramento

    5 november 2026 · 32 min

    Afspelen
The Lakers have played a lot of basketball in the last 10 days, and while the offense has been pretty incredible from night to night, it's not going to be there every night. Such was the case in Sacramento, where they couldn't pile up points quite as prolifically as they have (saying something, because 116 points isn't nothing), and more importantly didn't always have a ton of great flow. Lees meer

But they got plenty from Luka Dončić (40 points, nine rebounds, seven assists), including an epic run of 11 straight points to close out the first half.

The Lakers got 21 from Austin Reaves, who didn't turn the ball over once. Three other Lakers were in double figures, helping them get enough on the board.

But where the Lakers really excelled Wednesday was on the defensive side of the ball. While the defensive glass was a problem, the activity was very strong, Walker Kessler was extremely disruptive inside (four of the 13 blocks the Lakers posted as a team, to go with 11 steals), and they held Sacramento under 40% from the floor. (It was the extra possessions that kept the Kings within spitting distance.

But after a sluggish first quarter, the Lakers, led by Doncic, turned up the pressure enough to get some space and were never really threatened.

Up next, Portland at home on Friday night.

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: Luka keeps it rolling.

SEGMENT 2: The Lakers step up defensively.

  3. Should JJ Redick Keep Jake LaRavia in the Starting Lineup?

    4 november 2026 · 21 min

    Afspelen
JJ Redick has an interesting decision in front of him. Ziaire Williams opened the season as a starter, and has done nothing but play well. The only thing he did wrong was hurt his foot and miss a few games. Lees meer

In that time, Jake LaRavia stepped in, and has done good work in that spot. The metrics (small sample size theater!) suggest the team has performed a little better with LaRavia, but all small sample size theater caveats definitely apply. But LaRavia's skill set certainly fits nicely next to the Big Three and Matisse Thybulle.

The composition of the team's supporting cast allows Redick to factor in all sorts of things when making decisions like these.

Could the switch give some flexibility that would benefit other players?

  4. Has Luka Dončić Made Himself a Favorite for MVP? Plus, Comparing 6-2 Starts.

His borderline nuclear start has moved Luka Doncic into the catbird seat in the VERY VERY VERY early race for MVP. Lees meer

  5. Is JJ Redick Refining the Rotation? How to Evaluate the Supporting Cast

    3 november 2026 · 22 min

    Afspelen
Before Monday's win over Miami, JJ Redick noted that he feels like there a multiple (non-Big Three) players on the roster all capable of playing anywhere from 15-30 minutes a night. Night to night, things could look a little different. Even now, the Lakers have an unusual amount of guys averaging more than 20 minutes a night, and Collin Sexton should get there reasonably soon. Lees meer

Redick, when his players are available, has run with nine players in the rotation, all pushing 20 minutes or more, nightly. That number could go to 10 once Adou Thiero returns (potentially by the end of the week). He won't play 20, but it means Redick is embracing the idea of expanding, not contracting, the guys who play nightly.

And that he feels confident in them.

Given what Luka and Reaves are doing right now from a scoring standpoint, it also means that output for many in the supporting cast will vary greatly night to night, and that other metrics could be more important than relying on counting stats in evaluating contributions.

When it works, as it did against the Heat, not everyone gets a ton of shots or points, but everyone does get opportunities and minutes. Everyone feels involved. IF they can keep that up, the Lakers should be in decent shape when it comes to having reliable production from the group in the aggregate.

  6. Luka Dominates Again, Reaves Drops 27, Lakers Blow Out Miami 138-117

    3 november 2026 · 32 min

    Afspelen
Coming off a hard fought win against an incredibly aggressive Toronto team on Sunday, the Lakers had to turn around and welcome Giannis to Crypto.com less than 24 hours later. But led by another MVP-caliber performance from Luka Doncic, the Lakers controlled the game throughout and ran way with it in the end. Lees meer

    Final score, 138-117.

Luka was once again transcendent, finishing with 42 points (14-24 from the floor, 6-15 from 3) and again engaging defensively, notching a pair of steals.

Austin Reaves was hyper-efficient, scoring 27 on 10-15 shooting, Walker Kessler gave them 15/15. Overall, the Lakers offense worked very well, shooting 57%.

It was a big win, banking another victory ahead of an upcoming road trip that starts with some challenges, but then opens up with winnable games. If the Lakers keep playing well, they could get to the end of the month with losses you can count on one hand.

  7. Quentin Grimes Isn't Clicking. Can the Lakers Help Him Find His Comfort Zone?

    2 november 2026 · 25 min

    Afspelen
The Lakers have a bunch of new players, and for the most part thye've performed as advertised or better. Mamu? Looking good. Matisse Thybulle and Ziaire Williams? Looking good. Walker Kessler? Overall, very solid. Collin Sexton has been inconsistent, but does get some grace on account of having missed all of training camp. Lees meer

The exception has been Quentin Grimes.

It's not that he's shooting poorly (though the 3-pointer hasn't fallen), it's that he's barely shooting. He's just not getting involved in any meaningful way in the offense. And meanwhile, the turnovers are high. So what can the Lakers done to address the issue?

And could a move to the starting lineup be the fix?

Plus, tonight's game against the Heat! The Lakers have a chance to win a game against a team that at least on paper was a big challenge early in the season. Miami has disappointed, but still have Giannis and can still be dangerous.

But if the Lakers win, the rest of the month opens up in terms of stacking up wins. There aren't many big challenges after.

  8. Dominant Luka Donćić (45/15/6, 5 steals) Leads Lakers' Win Over Raptors

    2 november 2026 · 32 min

    Afspelen
The Lakers laid an egg the other night against the Warriors, and needed a big bounce back game. Lees meer

Sunday against Toronto, they got it, led by an MVP caliber performance by Luka Dončić (on his bobblehead night, no less). 45 points, 15 rebounds, six assists and five steals. He hit all 13 of his free throws. Luka hit eight of his 12 three pointers, one off his career high for total 3's made in a game. He was spectacular, to say the least. And he was especially decisive in a first quarter where he set the tone defensively, not just scoring.

Around the rest of the team, there was just enough to help him out. Walker Kessler finished with a 16/15 double-double, with three blocks. Austin Reaves had 19, Collin Sexton 14 and Sandro Mamukelashvili 11. This was game the Lakers looked like they had well in hand multiple times, and generally they did, but in the end they still allowed the Raptors to stay in the game, and even had to put the starters back in in the last minute of play.

But they got the win, and weathered a Toronto team that specializes in defensive pressure. (Weathered, not thrived.)

Could it have looked different? For sure. And it would have been nice if it did, but there was still enough there to get the win.

    (And plenty to work on...)

    HOSTS: Andy and Brian Kamenetzky

SEGMENT 1: The Lakers get the win behind a dominant Luka.

SEGMENT 2: Inconsistency, especially against pressure.

SEGMENT 3: Turning right around to play the Heat.

  9. Lakers Start Hot, but Fade Against the Warriors, Lose 112-95

  10. Sandro Mamukelashvili Is Having a Major Positive Impact, No Matter Who He Plays With

    30 oktober 2026 · 23 min

    Afspelen
There have been some ups and downs for the new Lakers players (even while in the aggregate, they've all played pretty well or better). But if there's been a standout performer, in terms of consistency and impact, it's probably Sandro Mamukelashvili. The forward/center has looked good in all five games, displaying the full range of his skill set, from scoring to passing to rebounding, and even a little defense to boot. Lees meer

In the early going, Mamu is definitely proving the folks who praised the signing (many of whom drew on positive analytics over the course of his career) correct.

One great feature of Mamu's season so far? You can pull about any three man lineup combination that includes him and see good news. Mamu with the team's two stars? Great numbers. Mamu with one star and Kessler? Great numbers. Mamu with other role players? Great numbers.

It's a good sign for what's to come.

And then we react to the reaction to Thursday's bonus show about Walker Kessler's rebounding.
