  1. St. Josemaria Escriva & St. John Vianney

    3 november 2026 · 31 min

Why did St. Josemaria choose St. John Vianney, the Curé of Ars, as an intercessor for Opus Dei? Lees meer

In this meditation, Msgr. Martin Schlag explores the spiritual friendship between these two saints and the profound lessons St. John Vianney offers us about priesthood, fatherhood, and the transforming mercy of Christ.

Despite the wounds he carried, St. John Vianney allowed the love of Jesus, especially through devotion to His Sacred Heart, to transform his suffering into a source of love and mercy for others. The man who had experienced rejection became a spiritual father to countless souls.

His example invites us to bring our own wounds to the Heart of Christ and allow His grace to transform them, too.

    PAUSE AND REFLECT:

Does my attitude towards priests reflect the Christian virtues of reverence, understanding, and hope?

How do I react to the Sacrament of Confession?

How could I support my local pastor better? What about my local bishop?

How can I allow the wounds of Christ to be a source of mercy and love for me?

  2. The Luminous Mysteries: Contemplating the Holy Rosary

    27 oktober 2026 · 20 min

    Afspelen
In the final meditation of our series, “Contemplating the Holy Rosary”, Fr. Donncha Ó hAodha explains how each of the Luminous Mysteries shines a light on how God comes to accompany us in our daily needs. By these “lights”, we can better see and dwell upon His unending love. Lees meer

Fr. Donncha invites us to renew our love for the world each time we pray the Luminous Mysteries as they speak to St. Josemaria’s teaching of raising up the material to the divine: “There is something holy, something divine, hidden in the most ordinary circumstances, and it is up to each one of you to discover it” (Conversations, no. 114).

    PAUSE AND REFLECT:

Baptism of Our Lord: What in my heart is incompatible with the love of Christ?

Wedding at Cana: Following Mary’s example, how can I grow in faith and trust in Jesus?

Proclamation of the Kingdom: What challenge in my life today am I inclined to avoid that I should instead more fully rely on the grace of Christ for support?

Transfiguration: How can I make more room for prayer and silence in my life so that I can recognize Christ in the ordinary, seemingly mundane, things of my life.

Institution of the Eucharist: How can I deepen my love for Jesus and become a more Eucharistic soul?

  3. The Sorrowful Mysteries: Contemplating the Holy Rosary

    20 oktober 2026 · 20 min

    Afspelen
In this meditation, Fr. Donncha Ó hAodha leads us to contemplate the love of the heart of Christ by referencing these words that St. Josemaria wrote for the fourteenth station of his Way of the Cross: "An inexhaustible source of life is the Passion of Jesus. Sometimes we renew the joyous impulse that took Our Lord to Jerusalem. Other times, the pain of the agony which ended on Calvary… Or the glory of his triumph over death and sin. But always!, the love — joyful, sorrowful, glorious — of the Heart of Jesus Christ” (14th station, commentary no. 3). Lees meer

St. Josemaria himself entered into the wounds of Christ to find respite in that Heart and to dwell on how much God loves each of us. And Fr. Donncha shows us how to follow that same path, by way of the Rosary and by way of the Eucharist. Fr. Donncha concludes: "It is in the self-giving love of Jesus Christ that we discover, that we touch, as it were, that God is love."

    PAUSE AND REFLECT:

Christ's Agony in the Garden: Let us consider that Love becomes flesh.

Christ's Scourging: Let us consider that Love becomes wounds.

Christ's Crowning with Thorns: Let us consider that Love becomes passion.

Christ's Carrying of His Cross: Let us consider that Love goes towards the Resurrection.

Christ's Crucifixion: Let us consider that God is Love, and that God is Love for me.

  4. The Glorious Mysteries: Contemplating the Holy Rosary

    13 oktober 2026 · 20 min

    Afspelen
In this meditation, Fr. Donncha Ó hAodha continues our series on the holy Rosary with a reflection on the glorious mysteries which provide us reason for greater trust in God for our apostolic mission. Our attempts to share the life and love of Christ are fruitful because the Risen Lord is the one who bears fruit, having overcome the tomb. Lees meer

Referencing Scripture and the writings of St. Josemaria, Fr. Donncha leads us in petitionary prayer, asking God to grant us greater confidence and trust in Him. Furthermore, the repeated experiences with our own weaknesses remind us to turn to the aid of Our Lady, just as the first Apostles did. We can turn to through the Rosary, which helps center us on Christ, regardless of how distracted we may become.

    PAUSE AND REFLECT:

Resurrection: Can I use my imagination to picture the first time Mary saw Jesus after his Resurrection? Do I have faith that enduring joy comes from meeting Jesus, the Risen Lord, repeatedly in my own life?

Ascension: Can I hear the voice of Jesus tell me to 'go out and preach to all nations'? Does this fill me with greater confidence for my apostolic mission, a divine confidence that helps me to get past any feeling of being overwhelmed by the idea of mission?

Descent of the Holy Spirit: Do I ever take myself and my mistakes too seriously to depend on the action of the Holy Spirit in my day-to-day life? How does the Holy Spirit fill me with greater confidence for my apostolic mission, a divine confidence that helps me to get past any feeling of being overwhelmed by the idea of mission?

Assumption of Mary: Do I view apostolate fundamentally as loving people?, If not, how could Mary, my mother, help me to refocus my vision today, so I can draw closer to those people around me?

Coronation of Mary: What areas of my life can I entrust to Mary, assured that she is interceding for me from Heaven?

  5. The Joyful Mysteries: Contemplating the Holy Rosary

    6 oktober 2026 · 20 min

    Afspelen
In this meditation, Fr. Donncha Ó hAodha invites us to enter into each scene of the Joyful Mysteries through the eyes of the Blessed Mother. Lees meer

Drawing inspiration from St. Josemaria’s meditations on the Holy Rosary, Fr. Donncha connects these mysteries of the life of Christ to His work in our lives today: “[St. Josemaria call us] to be contemplatives in the middle of the world... that we live with the awareness that we are loved as beloved children of God. That you, Lord, in your incredible love, have come into our world, and you continue to come into our world... The Lord doesn’t stop coming to us, and therefore, ‘many great things depend—don’t forget it—on whether you and I live our lives as God wants’ (The Way, no. 755). Our lives can be beautiful and fruitful, and truly human and truly humanizing, to the extent that we embrace the Lord who comes towards us.”

    PAUSE AND REFLECT:

Annunciation: How can I lean more on the Blessed Mother, that she teaches me to pronounce a heartfelt 'yes' in response to God's will for me?

Visitation: What can I learn from St. Elizabeth and St. John the Baptist about how I could respond to Our Lord choosing to come so close to me?

Nativity: How could I respond with more humility, patience ,and gentleness to this God, who comes to me as such a little child?

Presentation: How shall I welcome Our Lord so that my life too is transformed, just like the lives of Anna and Simeon that had a 'before' and an 'after' to meeting Our Lord?

Finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple: The learned scholars respond to Christ's presence by spending 'overtime' with Him—and what about my response and my time?

  6. From Dire Straits to Hope

    29 september 2026 · 27 min

    Afspelen
In this meditation, Fr. Leo Austin draws upon lessons from Scripture as he encourages us to pray for the grace to take better advantage of difficulties and darkness in order to develop a deeper interior life. This movement from discouragement to hope occurs especially in the faculty of our memory, when we process our own reactions in our personal conversation with God. Lees meer

As St. Josemaria wrote in The Forge, no.158: "When our vision is clouded, when our eyes have lost their clarity, we need to go to the light. And Jesus Christ has told us that he is the Light of the world and that he has come to heal the sick.—That is why your weaknesses and your falls — when God allows them—should not separate you from Christ, but rather draw you closer to him!"

    PAUSE AND REFLECT:

How did I react in a past moment of difficulty or darkness? How could I turn more quickly to Christ's light next time?

How do I use my memory in my conversations with God, to pass my past reactions through the heart of Christ so that he can purify me?

Do I feel spiritually stuck in any way–in my social life or professional life, or by facing my limitations–and how could I instead take this as an opportunity for growth?

Do I hear myself when I voice discouragement? How can I also hear, perhaps in louder volume, the voice of Jesus Christ telling me to lean more on His grace?

What are the “false shelters” under which I tend to hide?

    PAUSE & REFLECT:

Could I become a more ready apostolic instrument for the Holy Spirit to spread the blaze of Jesus Christ in and through my life?

Am I at risk of becoming worldly, and if so, what am I going to do about becoming a more contemplative soul?

  8. Seven Lessons About Love: The Seven Sorrows of Mary

    15 september 2026 · 31 min

    Afspelen
In this meditation, we invite you to pray alongside Msgr. Martin Schlag and, following the advice of St. Josemaria, repeat his heartfelt petitions to Mary under the invocation of Our Lady of Sorrows. Lees meer

By contemplating Mary's heart, we can learn to:

    let God strengthen my faith when I find myself at the foot of the Cross;

    pronounce a 'fiat' to God when He is asking something of me that's not what I want;

stand loyally by the side of Christ when I feel lonely, abandoned, or just plain tired.

Speaking about the heart of Mary, Msgr. Schlag leads us in meditation on Scripture, through a personal examination, and into contemplation by speaking directly to our Blessed Mother.

He explains: "The sword pierces a heart that loves Jesus, and in Jesus, loves all of us. So, Saint Josemaria goes so far as to connect Mary's sorrow with these words of Jesus: “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.”

Mary's suffering is not pointless or sterile. She suffers with Christ and for souls—for us—and is united with the redemptive love of her Son.

    PAUSE & REFLECT:

How do I receive suffering? Am I afraid of pain?

What barriers in my life prevent me from accepting the cross with faith?

How can my suffering lead me into to a deeper love of God?

  9. Turning from Cynicism to Contemplation

    8 september 2026 · 32 min

    Afspelen
In this meditation, Fr. Marty Miller draws out lessons about becoming contemplatives in the middle of the world by looking at our similarities to the lives of the Apostles. Their active lifestyles highlight three key elements for us to maintain a contemplative spirit amid our everyday duties: Lees meer

    1) our love for creation can grow to extend to the stark realities of modern life;

    2) our willingness to struggle can get us through the tough spots of the road if we take them as reminders of the importance of the contemplative spirit;

    3) our constant connection with Our Lord, that He himself maintains, can keep us oriented towards Him no matter what.

The saintly Apostles were not monks; rather their ministry demanded that they support themselves with work. And, the lives of so many saints show us that contemplation is compatible with facing great challenges. For us, too, the realities of our lives in the middle of the world should be content for our dialogue with God. In this way, we can trust that He has placed us in this world, with our life's challenges, for a reason, and the reason is always our sanctification.

    PAUSE & REFLECT:

Have I become cynical about some aspect of contemporary life? If so, how could I lean more on God, to allow him to heal me?

How could the lives of the saints, of a particular saint perhaps, help me to put my troubles in perspective and to realize that God is always by my side?

What is going on in my life right now that could and should be content for my next conversation with God?

  10. Framing the Academic Year as a time of Grace

    1 september 2026 · 19 min

    Afspelen
In this meditation, Fr. Eric Nicolai leads our imaginations from Sacred Scripture to the lakeside of eastern Ontario to the university campus where St. Josemaria famously proclaimed: "[God] waits for us every day, in the laboratory, in the operating theatre, in the army barracks, in the university chair, in the factory, in the workshop, in the fields, in the home and in all the immense panorama of work. Understand this well: there is something holy, something divine, hidden in the most ordinary situations, and it is up to each one of you to discover it." (Passionately Loving the World, no. 114) Lees meer

Although St. Josemaria delivered that homily in 1967, the words ring just as true for us today, at the start of this new academic year. In this timely meditation, Fr. Eric prompts us to take on our apostolic mission with as much enthusiasm as St. Josemaria.

He explains: "Let us feel ourselves now to be on a mission this year, to truly be protagonists in bringing the love of God wherever we are. And the university campus, the university buildings, they certainly need the love of God, the joy of being servants of God. The world needs all that love that we put into our studies... The apostolate that we will engage in as we meet people that maybe are distant from God and that maybe haven't had the grace to receive the formation, the knowledge of the faith that we have."

    PAUSE & REFLECT:

What repeated tasks, such as turning on a computer or making my bed, can remind me to say short little prayers to God?

Do I see my desk as an altar upon which to offer my work to God, in union with the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus?

What might help me to maintain–or regain–my enthusiasm for my studies and work?

Am I entrusting myself to the Holy Spirit, so that God can reach others through my friendships this year?

  11. Heading Home (Rebroadcast)

    25 augustus 2026 · 22 min

    Afspelen
In this podcast, Msgr. Fred Dolan examines three critical players in our spiritual life: the intellect, will, and heart. He offers a view of our life as a “journey back home,” relating the perilous journey in Homer’s Odyssey as a way of understanding the dangers confronting the Christian life in the modern world. Lees meer

“What a shame it would be,” he says, “to allow our day, our life, to be shipwrecked by the sirens of YouTube, a Netflix series, or Tik Tok.” Ultimately, Odysseus and his crew made it home because they knew the sirens were a “deadly menace,” and they did everything in their power to overcome them.

If we form our intellect, will, and heart, giving each faculty its proper place, we too will overcome the obstacles that assail us on our journey Home. And we must totally commit to our destination: with all the power of our intellect, the strength of our will, and the passion of our heart.

  12. Time for a Spiritual Health Check-Up? (Rebroadcast)

    18 augustus 2026 · 27 min

    Afspelen
In this podcast, Fr. Eric Nicolai leads us in a time of reflection and prayer to check up on our spiritual health. He explains that when we are spiritually healthy, we are grateful and cheerful. But when we are not, even the smallest thing drives us crazy. Lees meer

All those times when we're kind of irritable, restless, disconcerted, really worried about how things are going to turn out, what people might say, that's a sign we need a checkup and we need to get more spiritually healthy.

Our spiritual health will come, he explains, if we are men and women of prayer; if we are men and women who turn prayer into a real dialogue with God. Prayer puts us in contact with God, with our purpose and meaning, and therefore has the profound effect of giving us hope. There is nothing more essential for us than hope, to live by hope. We can't really live without hope. We can't even pray without hope.

The hope that comes from our prayer is also a reminder that we're never alone-- that's how some of the great saints survived. Prayer doesn't have to be a super perfect, forceful, or calm concentration. Prayer is a correspondence and dialogue with Our Lord.

As St. Josemaria Escriva says, “Prayer is the most powerful weapon a Christian has. Prayer must make us effective. Prayer must make us happy. Prayer gives us all the strength we need to fulfill God's commands" (The Forge, no. 439).

  13. Rising with Mary: The Assumption of Our Blessed Mother (Rebroadcast)

    11 augustus 2026 · 29 min

    Afspelen
In our meditation of the week, Fr. Javier del Castillo reflects on the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and how she helps us to rise up to Heaven in our daily lives. For St. Josemaria, the Assumption or the Dormition of Our Lady played a vital role in his life as a young boy in Barbastro, Spain. St. Josemaria’s devotion to Our Lady became so great that he wished to “rise up” to Heaven with Mary by clinging to the tassel of her cloak in an effort to bring a piece of Heaven to Earth. Lees meer

Fr. Javier invites us to look to Mary who teaches us that the essence of bringing Heaven to Earth lies in our ability to rise above challenges and adversities. By following her example, we can forgive even the unforgivable, serve others selflessly, and rise above our own tiredness and hardships. Mary's life exemplifies humility and the power of faith, showing us how to bring Christ's presence into our daily actions. As we emulate Mary's virtues and focus on the needs of others, we can transform our lives and actions, creating a piece of Heaven on Earth.

  14. Refueling for Charity (Rebroadcast)

    4 augustus 2026 · 20 min

    Afspelen
In today’s podcast, Fr. Peter Armenio reflects on the charity of God as “fuel” that enables us to seek holiness in the ordinary moments of everyday life. Our receptivity to God’s grace increases as we continue to strengthen our relationship with him through prayer and the sacraments. The grace we receive fills our life and will overflow into our relationships with one another, leading those we encounter closer to Christ. Lees meer

As St. Josemaria explains: “Charity is not something we ourselves build up. It invades us along with God’s grace, ‘because he has loved us first’. We would do well to fill, to saturate ourselves with this most beautiful truth: ‘If we are able to love God, it is because we have been loved by God.’ Ask God boldly for this treasure, for the supernatural virtue of charity, so that you may practice it even in the smallest details” (Friends of God, no. 229).

In this week’s podcast, Fr. Leo Agustina shares a reflection on the treasure of Christ, present in the Eucharist, and how we can become a living tabernacle in the world today. Fr. Leo draws our attention to the moments prior to the Ascension as Christ shares with his disciples the Great Commission: “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, … teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age” (Mt 28:19-20). Lees meer

This powerful message is an invitation from Christ to participate in his salvific work, drawing all men and women toward Heaven. Christ humbles himself to become bread so that he may dwell fully within us, as a living tabernacle, and gives us the opportunity to participate more fully in his mission to share the gift of faith with future generations to come.

As you pause and reflect today, how will you continue to mold your life of faith and prayer to draw closer to our Eucharistic Lord?

    6 januari 2026 · 26 min

    Afspelen
In our meditation of the week: Fr. Peter Armenio reflects on the greatest gift that we have from God-- the supernatural virtue of charity. Lees meer

Many of the Mass readings during Christmas, Epiphany and the following days, remind us that God really wants us to think about charity. We are especially reminded of Jesus's desire that we, his disciples, should be known by the love we have for one another.

Fr. Peter explains that through our baptism, all of us have charity, together with faith and hope, written in our supernatural genetic code or DNA. God gives us what it takes to love with the heart of Christ.

As his disciples, no matter what the culture is like, we know that charity is more powerful than resentment, hatred, and coldness. The light of charity always dissipates darkness, just as life overcomes death and grace overcomes sin.

So, as we listen to this meditation, Fr. Peter guides us to pray and ask ourselves: When I'm with my family, my friends and my colleagues, how do they detect that I'm a disciple of the Lord? What are the characteristics of my charity?

  48. Journey to the Manger with the Shepherds | The Third Week of Advent

    9 december 2025 · 25 min

    Afspelen
In this third meditation of our Advent series, Fr. Eric Nicolai invites us to contemplate the shepherds, who were the first to receive the news of Christ’s birth. Though they appear to be secondary figures in the Nativity story, their recognition of the Child wrapped in swaddling clothes becomes a powerful revelation: the newborn Jesus is the true Lamb of God, the light shining in the darkness, and God-with-us.
As we follow their humble faith and joyful haste toward the manger, we ask for hearts ready to recognize Christ’s presence with the same simplicity and awe.
