Coming Soon
5 januari 2023 · 44 min
Randy and Kev are joined by fellow Saskatchewanian and podcaster extraordinaire Corey Morrissette for the final episode in Season One (because Kev has literally just this second decided that seasons will be ten episodes long!) We talk about Corey's live experiences with Queen (and Paul Rodgers, and Adam Lambert), the use of Synths on Queen albums, and of course, plenty about this week's song; Coming Soon from 1980's The Game, including Kev's insightful and deeply profound analysis of the lyrics in the chorus. Who Needs You
29 december 2022 · 44 min
Yet ANOTHER cut from News of the World, but this time one that Randy hadn't heard before. Some fun panning, maracas, and even a little cowbell in this one, plus we head back to the "Church of Go Fuck Yourself" for another sermon. PJ sent us a great raw sessions version of the song which we rather enjoyed and we also found out that this song was too hard for Brian May to play, which is why John Deacon took on some of the acoustic guitar responsibilities! (well.... it's a theory) Lees meer

We Are The Champions
22 december 2022 · 53 min
Seriously? We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions in the first episodes? Kev is starting to get seriously worried that the end of this show is going to be him apologizing to Randy for a bunch of songs from A Kind of Magic and The Miracle!!! Talk about what to do with B Sides. What to do about the blatent theft of this format and how we can make it up to the people we stole it from. And mainly, two fellas dissecting one of the most instantly recognizable (second behind episode 4 perhaps!) songs ever written. Lees meer

Action This Day
15 december 2022 · 45 min
Episode seven and after another Greatest Hits track last week, the boys were really hoping for a deeper cut and the wheel was in a good mood tonight. This is another first for Randy and a song that Kev hasn't thought about in quite a while. The boys talk Smokey Robinson, The Knack, and Prince in relation to the song and are faced with another Roger Taylor lyric, so it could easily go south on ya! Lees meer

Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy
8 december 2022 · 44 min
Randy and Kev are back for another episode. We talk about clip clops, triangles, and what in the hell a saloon actually is that you can drive in style in it! We also read out listener tweets and recap the "farrago of mediocrity" that was Heaven For Everyone (thanks to Brian Crozier for that superb phrase!) Today's track is the gigantically brilliant Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy, from A Day At The Races. Tight arrangement, beautiful vocals, TWO bridges (count em!) and some beautiful frilly lyrics. It's just a hell of a good time. Lees meer

Heaven For Everyone
1 december 2022 · 48 min
Don't stop us now because we want it all! Today's episode covers a cover. Well, technically. Heaven For Everyone was originally recorded by Roger Taylor's side project, The Cross in late 1987. The album was released posthumously after Freddie's death and is a mishmash of odds and ends and rehashed tracks. Kev and Randy talk about 90s synths, the lyrical prowess of Roger Taylor, and also a little bit about whether songs sugger from being overplayed on radio and in media! Lees meer
Thanks to everyone who tuned in to the last episode and left us some comments on Twitter! We'll always try to answer any questions you have and seriously appreciate any corrections you make to anything we get wrong. (There's a pretty big one in this episode that I only realized after we were done recording!)

We Will Rock You
24 november 2022 · 47 min
Hello out there you stone cold crazy fat bottomed girls and guys! The wheel burped up another all time classic. Maybe the most iconic opening of any song in history. Seriously. No surprises from Kev and Randy when it came to voting on this one. Or were there???? We recapped last week's ep, including some chat about two live performances of Somebody to Love and then got straight into the meat of We Will Rock You. Kev even managed to sound vaguely cultured by bringing up a mythological reference! He also learned that he needs a podcasting checklist to make sure he's actually using the right mic before recording. (He's on a final warning, don't worry!) Randy introduces Kev to a new, highly technical audio engineering term when discussing the way Roger's drums were mic'd in one of the live performances and generally the two chaps had a wonderful old time! Somebody To Love
17 november 2022 · 49 min
The wheel kindly gave us our first song from (the UK release of) Greatest Hits this week and we were pretty excited to talk about this one! Turns out, Freddie Mercury could really sing! We also find out that Randy was categorically wrong last week and the poll backed up that assertion. Don't forget to head over to Twitter to let us know whether you thinkg Somebody To Love is one of the champions or whether it should bite the dust! Lees meer

The Prophet's Song
10 november 2022 · 50 min
Apologies up front for this one being a little long folks. But it's not our fault! Today's episode features the first spin of the wheel of Queen and it throw up the epic, eight and a half minute, monster The Prophet's Song from 1975's A Night At The Opera. The boys were split in their final evaulation of the song but that just means that someone was definitely right and someone needs to seriously rethink their position!!! Lees meer

Keep Yourself Alive
3 november 2022 · 36 min
Well hello people of the internet and other places too! The first episode of the podcast is now out and we spun up track one of album one for in inaugral show. Randy likes the flanger and also reveals that he is in fact the pastor of the Church of Go Fuck Yourself! Apart from that, the boys talk about heavy drum sounds, the wisdom of playing guitar with a coin and how absolutely brilliant Queen were at straddling the line between pop and rock. Lees meer

Welcome to the Pod
18 oktober 2022 · 5 min
Kev and Randy lay out the plans for this spontaneous and hopefully humourous look at the catalogue of one of the greatest rock bands to ever grace the stage: Queen. Lees meer
Every week, we'll will spin a wheel which contains songs from the entire Queen catalogue. Every week we'll talk about that song and look at background and live performances as well as listening through the song and commenting on different aspects of it. That song then comes off the wheel. At the end of each episode we'll each give our thumbs up or down for the song and remove it from the wheel. This format is lovingly copied from the most excellent And The Podcast Will Rock show, hosted by Corey Morrissette and Mark Camire. If you're into Van Halen, make sure you check that out!
We'll also most likely end up with guests and we'll almost certainly do bonus episodes covering things like live shows, books, and films.
