I want to take a moment to thank all of our members and listeners who have taken the time to come forward and share their personal experiences with us. Whether it's an encounter with Sasquatch, something unexplained in the woods, a strange figure seen in the darkness, a ghostly encounter, or an experience that simply defies explanation, these stories are what make this community so special.
I know that sharing some of these experiences isn't easy. Many people have kept these stories to themselves for years, sometimes decades. Some have never told another soul. Others have worried about being laughed at, judged, or simply not believed. Yet, despite those concerns, you've found the courage to step forward and share what happened to you.

David writes "Wes, For a little while, I worked part-time at a cancer center for a commercial cleaning company to pay off a credit card. I cleaned the majority of the facility, while my partner cleaned the remainder. As a result, I worked the last hour or so alone. Lees meer
One evening, I had to take some trash outside while my coworker was vacuuming the front lobby. As I was walking back toward the building, I saw someone sitting on a couch in the front lobby. The person appeared to be elderly. My coworker was on the other side of the room and wouldn't have been able to see them.
I went inside and told him there was still a patient in the building. I walked over to the couch and turned around, but there was no one there.
He asked me if I could still see someone. I told him, "Not anymore. Let me walk outside and see if I can still see them."
I went back outside, but whoever I had seen was gone.
I have one more encounter to share, and this one was a bit unsettling.
I was about to leave the building with the last of the trash and set the alarm for the night. I was alone. I had the feeling that I was being watched from the long hallway to my left.
At the end of the hallway was another waiting area that remained lit all night. Between the door where I was standing and the waiting room, the hallway was dark. The lights were divided into separate sections that turned on when motion was detected.
I saw a figure about 50 feet away, standing off to one side in the dark hallway. There were rooms and alcoves on both sides. The figure was facing me, but I couldn't make out any details because it was backlit.
I knew this wasn't a person because their movement would have triggered the motion-activated lights, and I knew I was alone in the building. I asked it what it wanted. I also told it that if it was trying to scare me, it was wasting its time.

Mike writes "It was the middle of summer, and I was out riding my bicycle. My parents had gotten distracted and busy with other things. I think my mom was asleep, and nobody was really paying much attention to me. It was around 10:00 or 10:30 at night, and I was still outside riding my bike. Lees meer
Our house sat right on a corner intersection, and about 150 feet behind it was my granddaddy's workshop. He was a carpenter and a farmer, and he had built this long, rectangular, shoebox-shaped workshop that was probably about 75 feet long.
On one side of the workshop, he had added a lean-to shelter where he kept his tractor, hay bales, and other things. On the far back side, he had built a horse pen. The pen extended about 10 feet underneath the lean-to, giving the horse a place to get out of the rain. There was a stall door that we kept secured with a chain and lock.
I was riding my bicycle around the shop when something happened. I'm not going to sit here and tell you I saw a 10-foot-tall, ape-like creature come charging out of the woods at me. But whatever it was, it had to be at least nine feet tall. It was way over my head, even while I was sitting on my bicycle.
It was around 10:30 at night. There was no moon, and the only light came from a 40-watt bulb on the back porch of our house.
Whatever it was, it was big. It appeared black because it blocked out what little ambient light there was. It came out of the woods behind the workshop. The woods had actually grown right up to the side of the building.
It came after me, and I pedaled that bicycle harder than I have ever pedaled anything in my life. I was headed straight for the light on the back porch. Whatever it was scared me so badly that I dropped my bike, got my shoelaces tangled up, and ended up dragging the bicycle up the back steps. I scraped my shins up pretty badly in the process, and I was beating on the back door trying to get inside.
Whatever it was, it stopped.

After serving in the military, Jared leased a remote cabin in the middle of nowhere. What started as a quiet place to live quickly turned into something very different, as he began having repeated interactions with these creatures. Tonight, he shares what happened during the four years he lived there and the experiences that ultimately convinced him he wasn't alone.
After the Paradise Fire destroyed his cabin, Jared became a truck driver. Then, in 2021, everything changed again when he struck and killed what he believes was a Sasquatch.
Jared describes what he saw, the damage the impact caused to his truck, and what happened in the aftermath.

SC EP:1291 The Skookum Thermal

GrayBear who lives in Trout Lake, Washington writes "I've attached a thermal video that I believe shows a female Sasquatch. If you watch the beginning of the video on a large screen, you may notice a smaller thermal signature appear on the left side of the tree. You can see what appears to be glowing eyes before the figure backs behind the tree. Lees meer
A moment later, the larger thermal signature emerges from the right side. A very large Sasquatch then bends down, and it appears that she may be picking something up. I refer to the larger figure as a female because of the apparent juvenile nearby.
Pay close attention to the size and proportions of the figure especially the large arms, hands, thighs, and torso. I was also able to enlarge a still frame from the video, and I believe I may have captured what looks like a face. I've attached that still image as well.
This occurred on Friday, May 1st. We returned to the area Saturday morning to review the site and found what appeared to be 15.6-inch footprints around the same tree where the Sasquatch was filmed. We went back again that night and experienced some additional high strangeness, including an X-shaped glyph that still has me completely baffled. Needless to say, it was quite a field-research weekend.
Take a close look at the still image and let me know if you see what I'm seeing. Follow the arm upward toward the shoulder and neck area. From there, you may be able to make out what appears to be a face. To me, it looks like the nose is glowing, followed by what appear to be the eyes and an ear.

We're getting ready to head back out into the Gifford for another couple of days of field research, this time with thermal drones and audio equipment. We've had some unusual audio activity in the area previously, so we're going back to see what happens during our night walks.

This has weighed on me for the last 40 years, I have only told one person about it. It bothers me that I shot but from the way it was acting I thought it was him or me."

Recently I listened to Episode 769 with the wildlife biologist, and the way he described some of his experiences was almost exactly what I've seen. I'm also currently in school to become a wildlife biologist myself, so hearing that episode finally convinced me to reach out and share a couple of my experiences. I've spent my entire life hunting and fishing, and I'm currently going into my junior year of college here in Kentucky. During deer season I'm usually in the woods four or five days a week after classes, hunting a large Wildlife Management Area (WMA) surrounding a nearby lake. I'm primarily a bowhunter, and at the time I never carried a firearm because, realistically, this is Kentucky we don't have many large predators that would make me feel like I needed one.
My first encounter happened in late November of 2024, around the end of Kentucky's gun season. I got to the woods around 2:00 p.m., and it took me roughly an hour to hike into my spot. It was about a mile back through some extremely thick, nasty terrain, which is exactly why I hunt there it keeps me away from other hunters.
After pushing through about 12 acres of dense cedar thicket, I reached the entrance to a deep holler. I climbed about 20 feet up into my climber stand and had only been sitting for around 10 minutes when I realized everything had gone completely silent. There were no birds, no squirrels, no movement nothing. The woods just seemed dead.
A few moments later I heard two distinct wood knocks off to my front left. I thought it was strange, but I brushed it off. Then, two or three minutes later, I noticed what looked like a bipedal figure walking through the woods roughly 100…

The most important thing he has discovered has a name that he coined in 1978, it called "ELECTRONIC FOG" and there has been thousands of planes, boats and people that have experienced it. Some seem to have disappeared while they were in the FOG. Could it have the power of an Event Horizon like a Black Hole?
It took Bruce Thirty (30) years to discover the theory of how this fog works. He says if you think about a question for a very long time, eventually you will come up with the answer this is what he did. There are many theories of what caused the mystery, and the discovery of Rouge Waves has come to fruition, but that only applies to boats. The mystery still remains and after fifty (50) years "Electronic Fog" has become the case in point.
There have been many animations on TV documentaries showing Bruce's flight experience, but none have ever shown it correctly. I'm 53 years old and hunted, with my dad, in Nowata, before I was old enough to drive. Not many people know how wooded this area is. My father and I hunted only 8 miles away from this property, I'm going to tell you about, and there are caves in the area. My dad and I use to hunt from the mouth of one on rainy days. I think, I could hide from populated areas, easily myself, so I'm pretty sure an elusive animal could too.
It all started on our father in-law's land. It was about 40 acres, but we had permission to hunt another 40 on the back side of it. I always felt uneasy on this property. Like I was being watched, but I just rationalized it away. I would hear someone else walking the property, in the dark, keeping pace with me, as I walked to my hunting spot. I would swallow my fear and tell myself it's just another armadillo or racoon, and keep going.
Once I borrow a knife from my dad, just in case I got a deer. The last thing he said to me was, " I don't care if you leave everything ease, just bring my knife back" . This knife was hand made, razor sharp, and entirely metal. I knew he meant it, so I was not going to leave it.
That hunt I struck out, but my brother in-law, got a small buck. I was in my early 30s then, but he was in his 20s and had never gutted a deer before, so I was going to gut it for him. Around 2004-2005 I went to visit my mom. She lives in a village surrounded by bayou and farmland. Though its not far from I-10 its the kind of place you only know about because of a detour from the interstate, fishing, or family is there. I was with my college roommate and we were going back to campus before it got too late but it was already dark. I took the side of the bayou I never take. Its too curvy and there have been a lot of deaths from people running into live oaks.
I looked to the side and noticed what looked like someone peeping through the window of one of the houses. Small town nosiness kicks in so I slow down to a crawl. I ask my roommate to take a look. We quickly realize this was no man. It was tall, almost as tall as the window. The build was lean but by no means skinny. More like Lebron type body with broad shoulders, muscular, long arms. It had fur and ears atop its head. It turned to look at us and I hit the gas.
I was driving a 1996 Ford Contour so I got nowhere fast. I could see large eyes and a snout protruding. Not flat like a cat's face. Definitely K-9. It started running toward us, at first on two legs, then down to 4. We're in the car screaming as you might picture two college girls doing and my roommate yells, "what the hell is that"? We got to I-10 and never looked back.

John writes "We owned a home in New Jersey, about three miles northeast of Chestnut, roughly a half hour from Hacklebarney State Park. The house sat on the west side of the Black River Wildlife Management Area and had only been built about three and a half years earlier. Lees meer
I had just returned after enlisting in the United States Navy. Someone dropped me off at the house around 4:30 that afternoon. We had two dogs a Golden Retriever and a little black dog. I let them outside, and the little black dog wandered off into the woods.
It was a beautiful day around 75 degrees with a light breeze. I decided I'd take a walk through the woods myself. I headed southeast from the house and walked about 700 or 800 yards before stopping and turning back toward the house.
That's when I heard the most god awful sound off to my right. It was incredibly loud, and at the time I had no idea what I was hearing. Later, after hearing other people describe it, I realized it sounded like what many call the 'samurai chatter.'
I looked up and saw a berry bush about four feet tall, roughly 40 to 45 yards away. Standing on the other side of it was a massive figure.
He looked to be about 6'8″ or 6'10", covered in reddish hair from head to toe. His build reminded me of a fit basketball player wearing shoulder pads, broad and muscular, and imposing. He was facing me, and we just stood there staring at each other.
After a few seconds, I couldn't take it anymore, I turned and ran all the way back to the house. This wasn't my only time seeing one."

Here is the description: In 1891, a young woman was taken from a fishing camp in Eastern Washington by a Skanicum, as her people knew the Sasquatch. She eventually escaped from her ordeal, but she returned to her family with a terrible secret.

First Encounter – July 2025
My first encounter involved myself (originally from Missouri, now living in Arkansas), my friend Nacho (Jacob, from Mississippi), and our other friend Torin (from Missouri). It took place near Neosho, Missouri.Nacho and I have been interested in Bigfoot and other cryptids since we were kids. One night, after spending most of the day playing video games at Torin's house, we jokingly decided around 10:30 PM to go "squatch hunting." Torin wasn't interested in going because he had a bad migraine, but we eventually convinced him to come with us.
We headed to Fort Crowder Conservation Area, a large wooded area near Neosho. Once there, we experienced several strange events. We had rocks thrown in our direction, heard what sounded like ground pounds, and could hear something moving behind us on the trail as well as around us in the woods. At one point, the same thing produced a deep, low rumbling growl that almost sounded like a stomach growling.
The most unsettling moment came when trees were knocked down in front of us, effectively blocking our path and preventing us from going any farther. As we retreated, more rocks were thrown at us. Throughout the entire experience, the woods were unnaturally quiet there were no insects, no wildlife sounds, nothing.
The following night, Nacho and I returned to the area, this time approaching from the opposite side. Since it was only the two of us and we were honestly pretty nervous after the previous night's events, we decided to stay close to the car.
After arriving, we stepped out briefly and Nacho made a few calls. Not long afterward, something very close by responded by smacking a tree on his side of the vehicle. A little later, I repeatedly heard something moving around on my side of the car.

The toy was a Jeep Wrangler YJ that was abandoned. Even more interesting it was abandoned by a gentlemen that later that same year went to his friends house and shot him. He had some issues I guess. So whilst we went out there we swapped from my brothers truck to mine and proceeded to meet them in the woods. So this is Sweden Maine where he found this. Kinda middle of nowhere. So we get to the Jeep and my friend and my brothers friend go out in the Jeep, leaving my brother and I with my pickup in this clearing. We noticed it was very quiet where we were. Right about then is when a gum ball sized rock landed between us. We looked at each other and played it off.
Both kinda bothered we agreed to go towards the entry of the trail to get out of there. (Guess it felt safer) well when we got a little further down the trailer my brother pulled over. (He always drove) it was getting dark probably like 6:30-7pm in May. When I jumped out I looked at this tree too admiring the sky. I saw an entire flock of birds fly out of this tree. I proceeded to slowly drop my head looking down the tree the whole time.
When I got to the middle of the tree is when I saw something. I saw a figure in the woods. Left arm and leg obscured by the tree looked as if it's left palm was against the tree. It was rocking slightly, it had a long arm that I could see on its right side and a big build. The day this happened was different.
We were visiting Crabtree Falls in North Carolina, a very popular waterfall along the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's still remote in the sense that it's deep in the mountains, but it's a well-known destination, especially in the summer which is when we were there. This was in late July of 2016, well before Hurricane Helene, so all parts of the trail were open.
The hike to the falls is about 2.5 to 3 miles round trip. About halfway in, there's a spot where water runs down the mountain and crosses the trail. It spreads across a wide rocky area, with large boulders lining both sides as far up as we could see. Curious, we decided to step off the main trail and climb alongside the water to see where it led. We thought maybe there was another waterfall upstream or at least we'd discover where this sizable creek originated.
We climbed straight up those rocks for about half a mile. Eventually, we started hearing what sounded like a fairly large waterfall. We figured we were close and also that we probably weren't supposed to be there. There were signs everywhere warning hikers not to leave the trail, and by then we were well off it.
I was climbing ahead in case my wife needed help navigating the rocks. When we reached the top of a large boulder near the sound of the falls, I pulled myself up and immediately froze.
At the base of a waterfall roughly 25 or 30 feet tall, something enormous was crouched near the bottom, about five feet above the creek it fed into. At first, I couldn't process what I was looking at. I just knew it was huge.

When I was around 13 years old, I often went down to the creek at night with a lantern and fished for catfish. I loved the solitude. It was peaceful, and every now and then I'd hook into a freshwater drum or a snapping turtle that would really test my gear.
One night, I had been fishing for three or four hours. About 100 yards to my southwest was a road cut into the side of a mountain. To stabilize the hillside, large riprap rocks had been placed beneath the road. I've always had excellent hearing, and even at 13 I could identify just about every animal in those woods by sound alone.
That night, something strange happened.
As I sat there in the darkness with my lantern turned low, I heard something running barefoot along the road. Then I heard it grab the guardrail and vault over it. A moment later, rocks shifted and slid as it landed in the riprap below.
Then the woods went silent.
I could hear faint footsteps moving through the forest. Because I was down by the creek and the bank rose about ten feet above me, my lantern light probably wasn't visible from where the sounds were coming from. I kept fishing, convincing myself it was probably a deer crossing the road and that my imagination was filling in the blanks.
Then things escalated.
At first, small rocks started landing in the creek. Then larger ones some sounded as big as basketballs when they hit the water. I tried to ignore it and kept fishing, thinking maybe fish were jumping or something natural was causing the disturbance.

When she was little, maybe 5, I taught her how to build a fire in the fire pit(stones stacked in a circle) next to our house close to the wood line next to the hay fields. The night she had her experience she started a fire with me and we were hanging out. She had built a fort with blankets and with some camp chairs and we were watching the fire. I told her I had to run inside and use the bathroom and get a snack/drink keep an eye on the fire, I'll be right back. After going inside and using the bathroom, grabbing a bag of potato chips and drink, I was at the back porch door and Emmy was there trying to open the door and crying upset. I opened the door and she was crying very scared and I asked what happened.
She told me there was something very large and tall and dark in the wood line watching her next to big pine tree while she was watching the fire. She told me she looked multiple times thinking it was her imagination but she thought it would go away but it didn't and then she realized it was real and she got really scared, when she got the back steps maybe 100ft from the fire the tears and uncontrollable crying hit her. I spoke with the witness, who is from Massachusetts, and he shared several unsettling experiences that happened while working the rail lines. According to him, there was one particular stretch of track where strange activity was common. During one incident, the train was stopped when he suddenly heard something massive crashing through the air from the tree line about 30 feet behind him.
What happened next shocked everyone on site. A tree had been hurled like a spear, striking one of the rail cars with enough force to pierce straight through it, leaving the trunk protruding from both sides. One of his co-workers immediately told him, "That was Sasquatch."
The witness went on to describe several other bizarre incidents in the area and said workers were often warned not to talk about what they experienced out there.

As you know, I used to be the State Director for the Virginia Chapter of the Mutual UFO Network and investigated numerous UFO sighting reports to include purported "abduction" cases. I transitioned to the paranormal realm because of the apparent similarities in certain cases. I've been with the Center for Paranormal Research and Investigations (CPRI) for the past twenty-four years and, within the past eight years, started conducting "cryptid" research for the same aforementioned reasons.
I chose CPRI because of their philosophy and the way they approached the paranormal using the scientific method. The organization has MDs, PhDs in sociology, educators, nurses, chemists, current and former law enforcement officers, etc. CPRI is a Virginia 501(c) nonprofit, educational organization with a Board of Directors.
I approached their Board with a written research proposal requesting that we investigate the "cryptid" phenomena in the same fashion they approach the paranormal; using certain specialized instrumentation and equipment like thermal imaging/ recording devises, remote data loggers designed to measure various EM/ radiological fields, and certain environmental conditions. My proposal involved locating a potentially credible cryptid investigator and working with them in their respected field research areas in order to capture supporting data during a sighting. One of the most striking happened in April 2021, when I had a clear, close encounter no more than 15 yards away with what I believe was a Sasquatch, or what locals call a Skunk Ape. I was out riding my four-wheeler in the woods at the time. After that, I had a few more unusual experiences in the same area with friends, though I'm not entirely sure if those were related to Bigfoot.
I've also been involved in what I later realized was a demon summoning ceremony, during which I experienced some disturbing paranormal activity.

As they told their stories, the rest of us those from GWOT, myself included remained quiet. After the meeting, I spoke privately with another GWOT veteran, who admitted he had also witnessed unusual things while serving as an Army instructor on a base.
My own experience happened on the eastern shore of Cougar Reservoir in Oregon. I was camping with my family when, close to midnight, something began approaching our campsite. I first heard heavy footsteps about 100 meters away. As it drew closer, I realized I had to stand my ground. It was moving toward us steadily not sprinting, but deliberately giving my ex-wife time to turn on the SUV's lights and get our two toddlers out of the tent and into the vehicle, about 40 feet away.
I positioned myself between the approaching figure and my family. It came down from a hill toward our campsite by the water, a distance I later confirmed to be about 100 meters. When it got within roughly 40 meters, I fired a couple of warning shots with my 9mm, though it felt completely inadequate. My plan, if it came closer, was to aim for the eye shine to buy my family more time.
At around 20 30 meters, I could feel the vibration of its footsteps through the ground beneath my bare feet. Strangely, it kept its eyes covered as it approached. The SUV's headlights were shining directly at it on high beams, yet I couldn't see any eye reflection. I've never been able to shake the feeling that it understood what I was trying to do.

When I was 14, back in July or August of 1994, I took my small scooter down a rough dirt road used by the local power commission to access power lines. About half a kilometer in, the terrain got too difficult to keep going, steep dips and uneven ground, so I shut the bike off to take a break. It was a warm, sunny day around midday.
Out of nowhere, everything went completely silent. The best way I can describe it is like someone put ear protection over me. I had never experienced anything like that before.
As I looked back down the path I had just come from, I saw something I'll never forget. About 500 feet away was a creature that looked somewhat like an African lion, but… not right. Its eyes were solid black, and it had a full mane around its head. I couldn't see its hindquarters clearly because they were partially obscured by trees and brush. It was on all fours. The closest comparison I can make is that it resembled what some people describe as a Dogman."
At that point in my life, I was a paperboy with excellent eyesight, and I saw all kinds of dogs on my route regularly. This was not a dog. I was absolutely terrified. There was something about it that felt wrong, almost like it didn't belong in this world. I can still remember its mane moving slightly in the breeze and the intense, predatory stare it had locked on me.
After about 10–12 seconds of just staring at each other, I tried revving my little 70cc bike, hoping to scare it off. It didn't react at all.
After another several seconds, it slowly backed into the woods without ever breaking eye contact. That's when it hit me, I had to go back the same way I came. There was no other way out. It's not a Bigfoot encounter at least I don't think it is. Honestly, I'm not sure what kind of encounter it was. All I know is that it happened to me. I've often wished someone could explain it, tell me what it was or what it meant.
It happened on October 31, 2001, under a full blue moon, along one of the quietest stretches of the Blue Ridge Parkway. At the time, I was driving a 1970 Chevy Bel Air an old steel boat of a car and I had pulled into the James River overlook near Goff Mountain Road. It was close to midnight. The moon was so bright it almost felt like daytime.
I shut the engine off and decided to stretch my legs. There's a small trail there that leads down toward a bench maybe a hundred yards from the parking area. I'd spent a lot of time in the woods so being out in the forest at night didn't bother me. I knew what normal nighttime woods felt like.
And I also knew when something felt off.
As I walked down the trail, the stillness felt unnatural. No breeze. No insects. No rustling. Nothing. I sat on the bench and looked through the bare branches while the moonlight spilled across the slope below. It was beautiful, but something about it felt wrong. Like I was being watched.
Then I heard a Snap. A single limb breaking somewhere downslope, maybe fifty to a hundred yards away toward the Bellamy Creek drainage. At first I didn't think much of it deer snap branches all the time. Then it happened again. And again.
What caught my attention wasn't just the sound it was the pattern. The breaks started coming from different directions. Not like one animal moving through the woods. I counted five, maybe ten distinct snaps, each spaced about four or five seconds apart.

My friend and I got into the forest at dusk and set up camp. We saw no vehicles as we drove through the forest and the campsite we stayed at was completely empty.
Twenty minutes or so after setting up camp, we heard an incredibly loud sound from the northwest corner of the camp. It was so loud it made us both jump and all of my hair immediately stood on end. The sound was like a howler monkey whooping, but it sounded like it was the size of a minivan.
Immediately after this, about 150 feet south of us in the tree line, another noise happened. It sounded like Babe Ruth was in the forest slamming a bat against a tree. There were 6 whacks or knocks. They came in 3 successions of twos. Knock knock. Knock knock. Knock knock.
That night we got chased out of the campsite by 3 or 4 of these creatures. It kept me out of the woods for a long time.

It began with an odd sixth sense feeling like I was being watched. I work a swing shift, so I get home late, and I'd often feel uneasy when pulling into the driveway. At first, I brushed it off as nerves from being in a new place. Then the noises started.
The first incident happened while I was at work. My girlfriend called me, shaken, saying that something was walking outside the house and breathing heavily. I told her it was probably a buck looking for a doe since it was mating season, which seemed reasonable at the time.
Not long after, one weekend night, we were both woken up by chattering sounds coming from two different directions. We just lay there frozen in bed, listening. Another incident involved tapping on the side of the house, which I was able to record."
Curtis writes "My twin brother and I had an intense encounter with a group of three Sasquatches back in the summer of 1983." After speaking with the eyewitness, he explained that in 1983, he and five other kids were playing in the woods, pretending to be in a war game.
He recalled that three large creatures emerged from behind the school, stepping out from the tree line. The creatures walked right past him, his twin brother, and their friends. At first, he mistook the creatures for his brother and friends, but upon a closer look, It wasn't his brother.
He said they weren't as big as he had initially imagined they were nothing like the giant figures typically described or even like Patty."

Tex writes "I am currently serving in the United States Army as an Airborne Infantry soldier with the 82nd Brigade, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Growing up, I had several strange experiences in the woods moments that didn't make sense at the time but, looking back now, could very well be connected to Bigfoot or Sasquatch. Lees meer
My most significant encounter, however, occurred in January of 2025 during a field training exercise with my basic training company at Fort Benning, Georgia. What happened wasn't a single sighting, but encounters with what I believe were three separate beings possibly a small family group of Sasquatch inhabiting the forested outer edge of the base.
I'd heard plenty of stories about unusual activity on Fort Benning and other military installations, but I never imagined something like this would happen to me especially not with a witness alongside me. During one night in our patrol base, we had contact with two large entities. We fired blank rounds, and things quickly escalated into complete chaos.
The following day, while conducting a patrol as a two man team, my buddy Hal and I encountered something large, upright, and covered in shaggy dark reddish-brown hair. It was partially concealed behind a tree at our 10 o'clock position, approximately 50 meters away, watching us as we slowly backed toward our patrol base.
We both knew exactly what we had seen. We agreed not to say anything to the rest of the squad at least until our Drill Sergeants called us in for a serious, in-depth conversation. Some of the things they said and implied made it feel as though they already knew what was out there and wanted the incident kept quiet.

To reach this area is no small task. First, you have to cross a reservoir by boat an eight mile ride across water that itself lies nearly forty miles from the nearest town. Once across, you reach the trailhead. From there, the route winds past a series of ponds deeper into the wilderness.
The first leg is a 1.2 mile hike to the first lake. From there, you can either hike around it or paddle straight across. My fishing partner and I use Kevlar/carbon-fiber canoes light enough to carry, so if weather allows, we paddle the lake instead. That lake is roughly two miles long. After taking out on the far side, the trail continues another 1.5 miles into the Five Ponds Wilderness.
At the second lake, the trail turns north and becomes more of a bushwhack through old-growth timber, with mountains rising on both sides. That stretch is another two miles, heading deeper into the wilderness until you finally reach the destination lake. This area is considered one of the three most isolated locations in the entire Adirondack Park relative to civilization.
It's an absolutely stunning place completely secluded, ringed by mountains, with water that looks glacial and holds trophy class brook trout. It's truly one of my favorite places on Earth.
We arrived around mid-morning on the first day and immediately started fishing. We caught plenty of fish, and everything felt normal. As evening approached, we gathered firewood, set up our tents, cooked dinner, and sat around talking. At one point, I stood up and did a Bigfoot call followed by a loud tree knock. It was something we used to do as a joke in less remote areas to mess with other campers.
My buddy laughed, and we turned in for the night.

For context, we're deep in the PNW backcountry: no power, no civilization for miles, and no motorized vehicles allowed anywhere near the place. Out of nowhere we heard a thud on the side of the shack. My wife said, "There's something outside," but a friend brushed it off, saying it was probably just a piece of firewood settling in the stove. So we ignored it.
A moment later, another thud, louder this time. Three of us got up, opened the door, and checked down the side of the shack where the sound came from, but there was nothing there. Convinced it was probably nothing, two of us headed back inside while the third said he needed to use the shitter (our name for the outhouse).
We had barely sat down again when, just seconds later, he, let's call him "J" came sprinting back inside, not even making it to the outhouse. He blurted out, "There's something out there," and the fear on his face was real. This is a military veteran who's seen his share of things, and he said whatever it was made a deep exhale or grunt from just outside.
So J, S, and I went back out. We'd only walked about 15–20 feet toward the shitter before stopping. The outhouse sits around 40–50 feet from where we stood, with no trees between us. Behind it, though, the timber tightens up.
I saw it first. "What the hell is that?" I said. What I saw was a small red glowing light, pulsing faintly. A minute later J said, "What the hell is that?" he had finally locked onto it too. S still couldn't see it yet.
The red light looked like a tiny, dim LED, pulsing on and off. The night was pitch‑black—so dark I couldn't see my hand in front of my face. Whenever I stared directly at the light, it would vanish, and I'd have to move my head around, almost like searching around branches for an angle. Then it would reappear… then vanish again… then reappear somewhere slightl…
