Land Art Pod: Conversations with Creatives connects and engages with creatives who embody regenerative ways of making and living. Through these conversations, we strengthen our collective capacity to heal, to imagine, and to kindle new ways of being in partnership with Land, Sea, and Sky. Dedicated to nurturing bonds between people and the planet, Land Art Pod offers sonic musings on the nature of creativity—a space to gently nourish, restore, and inspire through dialogue. This project is produced by Land Art Collective, curated by Elizabeth Gleave and Morgan Kulas, and hosted by (myself) Morgan Kulas. Our theme music is composed by Jacob Stanley and Hannah Belle; the song is titled Warmth from Within. If you enjoy what you hear, please consider leaving a five-star review.

  1. DAWN HURTON ON HER FICTIONAL MUSEUM IN RURAL CUMBRIA

    25 oktober 2026 · 43 min

    Afspelen
Dawn Hurton is a contemporary sculptor based in Dufton, Cumbria, in the North Pennines. Working with rag pulp, plant fibre, pony hair, barytes and earth pigments, her practice explores the relationships between people, labour and the land. Her current project, The Dufton Hoarde, is an artist-made Museum of Rural Memory rooted in the lead-mining villages and worked landscape surrounding her home. Combining sculpture, text, moving image and invented museum records, it asks what counts as evidence, how stories acquire authority, and what remains when accumulated knowledge of place is no longer carried forward. 2. RIMA STAINES ON PAINTING THE REALMS OF MYTH, MAGIC, AND FOLKLORE

    25 oktober 2026 · 59 min

    Afspelen
Rima Staines is an artist whose work straddles myth, magical realism and the folk arts. Her work explores the edges of culture and consciousness in media from painting, music, writing, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, to clock making, mask making, theatre, puppetry, book arts and animation. Lees meer

Rima’s visual world is steeped in melancholy, story-rich and alchemical. Her detailed paintings are often made with oils on found wood - icons rooted in animism that feel simultaneously both strange and familiar.

She has a long-held fascination with the idea of the liminal - the edges and hedges, the boundaries between one place and another, both metaphorical and real - and with the power of art that comes from that place. Her work is a kind of “Iconography of the Otherworld”.

Her paintings have been exhibited and published internationally and hang in many private collections worldwide. She was co-founder and co-director of the Hedgespoken travelling storytelling theatre and small press. In 2018 she was a finalist in the Best Artist category of the World Fantasy Awards. She is a mother to two young sons and lives and works in South Devon halfway between the moor and the sea.
