Mount Famine, Pub Kid and Son of Cormack... A show with a folky/blues vibe!!!
26 oktober 2026 · 31 min
A blues and folk inspired edition of Freshly Squeezed this week... well for 2 out of the 3 emerging artists featured anyway. Lees meer
As always, this is the podcast where you can find the very best of new music and potentially discover your next new band. The three acts Jim has hand picked (or should that be ear picked?) this week are...
Pub Kid: If Bob Dylan had grown up in the Midlands, spent too much time in pub back rooms and developed a fondness for modern British storytelling, he might sound a bit like Pub Kid. Stripped back, unfiltered and wonderfully authentic, his songs place lyrics front and centre, drawing on folk traditions where every line matters and every character feels real.
Mount Famine: Mount Famine occupy that sweet spot where indie rock's melodic instincts collide with post-punk atmosphere and alternative swagger. There are shades of New Order's drive, lyrical dexterity of Slow Readers Club and the restless energy of Franz Ferdinand, all wrapped up in a sound that's unmistakably their own.
Check the Halloween inspired video for Pulse here.
Son Of Cormack: After more than two decades of writing, refining and living the stories that shape his music, Son Of Cormack is finally preparing to release his debut album. Born from British and Irish roots but now shaped by life in Austin, Texas, his sound effortlessly blends blues, folk and Americana influences. Rich with lived experience and packed with honest songwriting.

Dead Poet Society, Part Time Model and The Memos with new music to share!
19 oktober 2026 · 31 min
Here we gooooo! New music time and there are another brilliant three acts to get your ears around on the latest Freshly Squeezed podcast... three is, of course, the magic number. Lees meer
Once you hit play here is what you are going to get...
Part Time Model: Some bands spend years searching for a sound. Leeds newcomers Part Time Model seem to have arrived with one already fully formed. Blending jazzy flourishes, psychedelic textures and a distinctly retro cool, their debut single Cut Off Point feels cinematic in the best possible way - An assured first statement from a band that already sound like they know exactly who they are.
The Memos: The Memos, Heaven Takes Two is the sound of a band chasing to evolve rather than stand still. Their self-styled "2.0 era" leans into bigger emotions, sharper songwriting and a more focused creative vision, while retaining the indie sensibilities that turned heads in the first place.
Dead Poet Society: One of the most exciting rock bands operating on either side of the Atlantic right now. Dead Poet Society deal in massive riffs, relentless energy and controlled chaos! They're rapidly becoming impossible to ignore. If you like your rock loud, ambitious and unapologetically modern, get on board now.
Need even more new music... every Friday we update the Freshly Squeezed Spotify playlist and you can find that here.

But, in terms of what you care about now. Here's what Jim's put on the slate for this week's show...
Aderyn: One of the most distinctive new voices emerging from Wales right now, Aderyn blends shimmering alternative pop with trip-hop inspired grooves and razor-sharp songwriting. There's a touch of Massive Attack in the beats, plenty of modern indie attitude, and a real confidence that shines throughout her new EP Hot Pink!
Luke Branch: Best known as the frontman of cult indie-punks Asylums, Luke Branch's solo material feels anything but a one-man operation. Packed with huge, layered arrangements, psychedelic textures and punk rock urgency, his songs burst with creativity and ambition. Away from the band, Luke's freedom, ambition and imagination run wilds!
Frieda Star: Hailing from Wolverhampton, Frieda Star deliver fuzzy, distortion-soaked indie rock with one foot firmly planted in working-class Britain. Drawing comparisons to The Strokes and the garage rock revival that followed, their sound combines swaggering riffs, relentless energy and infectious hooks.

Radio Free Alice, The Love Buzz and Camens are back with long awaited new music!
5 oktober 2026 · 32 min
Some VERY exciting bands pop up on this weeks offering of new music via the Freshly Squeezed podcast. Lees meer
Jim Salveson is in the hot seat again, this week chatting too:
The Love Buzz: Despite a name that suggests glitterballs and 70s disco, The Love Buzz deal in something far grittier. Their sound sits somewhere between grunge, indie rock and garage swagger, delivering fuzzy guitars, infectious hooks and plenty of attitude. Chaos and melody in equal measure.
Camens: Back after a lengthy spell away, Camens return sounding revitalised and more self-assured than ever. The Stoke outfit have traded some of their indie-pop brightness for a darker, more cinematic edge, while retaining the knack for memorable melodies that first put them on the map. New single Anything To Win marks the start of an exciting new chapter for the band.
Radio Free Alice: Melbourne's Radio Free Alice may be based on the other side of the world, but their musical DNA is steeped in the finest British post-punk and new wave traditions. Sharp, stylish and endlessly danceable, they're rapidly becoming one of Australia's most exciting guitar bands.

This week, Jim Salveson is joined by three very different artists making waves with brand-new releases:

Michael Cassidy: Featuring his distinctive brogue and heartfelt, piano-driven sound, Michael Cassidy's new song 'The Nurse's Son' explores family, identity and personal reflection. Michael shares the story behind the song and why he's turned the volume up a little for this latest chapter.

A Lost Manchester Masterpiece: Aziz Ibrahim on 'Lahore to Longsight'.
24 september 2026 · 27 min
It's something a bit different and a bit special on this episode of Freshly Squeezed: A New Music Podcast. Lees meer
Jim Salveson is joined by legendary Manchester guitarist Aziz Ibrahim, best known for his work with The Stone Roses, Ian Brown, Paul Weller, Simply Red, and some of the biggest names in British music.
Although we're usually focused on new releases, Aziz's story centres around an album that's both old and new at the same time. Originally recorded more than 25 years ago, 'Lahore to Longsight' has finally been rediscovered and reissued for Record Store Day 2026 (and along with a nationwide tour) introducing it a new generation to a remarkable piece of Manchester music history.
Aziz reflects on stepping into the Stone Roses following John Squire's departure, the creation of Lahore to Longsight, and the extraordinary cast of musicians who helped bring it to life, including Mani, Reni, Andy Rourke, Mike Joyce, Denise Johnson, Paul Weller, Steve White and Talvin Singh.
The conversation explores how the events of 9/11 impacted the album's original release, the connections between Lahore to Longsight and Ian Brown's classic albums Unfinished Monkey Business and Golden Greats, and why Aziz felt compelled to revisit the record following the loss of several close friends and collaborators.

As always, Jim Salveson sits down with three exciting new acts to find out more about their story, their inspiration and (of course) their latest tunes. This week;
Eyal Pik: London-based, Israeli-born singer-songwriter Eyal Pik creates colourful psych-pop that sits somewhere between Britpop, 60s rock 'n' roll and modern indie storytelling. Blending sharp observations, infectious melodies and more than a little psychedelic charm; Think Bob Dylan wandering into a late-night Camden jam session with The Kinks. Lovely stuff.
The Certs: Four lads from Surrey bringing a punchy indie-punk energy that feels refreshingly free of gimmicks. Built around raw live performances, hook-filled songwriting and a healthy respect for classic rock 'n' roll, The Certs have quickly built a reputation for sell-out local shows and fast-rising momentum. Loud, youthful and absolutely no messing about.
Seven Streets: Armed with huge riffs, soaring melodies and the sort of anthemic sound that recalls the best of Stereophonics and Cast, Steven Streets are already building a sizeable buzz around Merseyside. Big songs, big ambition and the kind of tunes made for singing back at festival stages.

Andrew Cushin, Ryan Redwood and Deltamanic bring the NOISE!
29 juni 2026 · 32 min
A bit eclectic collection of brilliant new music bunched together on this Episode of Freshly Squeezed: A New Music Podcast, as we take in music from Newcastle, Alloa and Norfolk! Lees meer
Jim Salveson sits down for a bit of chat and a whole loads of tunes this week from:
Andrew Cushin: Having once channelled raw, restless energy and grief into every line, Andrew Cushin now sounds like an artist who’s found his stride. Leaning into a broader, more assured indie rock sound (without losing his northern grit). This sounds like an artist truly enjoying his craft.
Ryan Redwood: A singer-songwriter with an ear for a swaggering rock anthem, Ryan Redwood leans into big, stadium indie rock over the soft fingerpicking of his contemporaries. With songs that feel like a release of pent-up frustrations, Ryan feels like he's capturing a generation’s mood.
Deltamanic: You wont have heard anything quite like Deltamanic! Brining together sounds of retro disco, widescreen rock and modern indie, it feels like this Scottish band are quietly starting a musical revolution! Music you but can't help dance along too!

Bank Holiday: Fun indie pop that rages against the too-cool-for-school swagger of the Manchester music scene. Bank Holiday are a band who are clearly making the music they love and thats a great reason for you to love it too.
TOOTH GORE: The chilled surf vibe of Newquay mixed with the inner city punk of Mile End. Tooth Gore (aka Kobi Joe) melds together both styles and places to create a sound that is uniquely his.

Barbara, Fragile Animals and The Radio Addicts return with new music!
15 juni 2026 · 36 min
Are you ready kids? Heeeeee.... has a load of top new tunes ready to go... FRESH! LEE! SQUEEZED! POD! Lees meer
Jim's at it again, three awesome acts lined up and waiting to be discovered on the podcast ALL with top (and very fresh) new tunes for you to check out.
Barbara: Pure pop that pulls no punches. A bit of Bowie, a bit of Beach Boys and a whole lot of fun. Barbara are a band that aren't trying to be cool, they're making the music that they love and they want you to love it to... and to have a good time whilst you're at it.
Fragile Animals: Australia isn't known for its shoe-gaze... but maybe Fragile Animals will start a movement! Dreamy, hazy guitars layer with enchanting vocals and (occasionally) gloomy lyrical adventures to create something rich and emotive.
The Radio Addicts: Riotous punk-pop from a band with the energy and optimism that only comes from youth! The Radio Addicts are band band who's writing and musicianship defies their age... big spiky guitars and sing-a-long chorus' reminiscent of Buzzcocks combination of raw pink energy and sharp pop sensibilities.

Martial Arts, Poesie and Isaac Neilson with an UNBELIEVEABLE musical challenge.
8 juni 2026 · 32 min
Lock in, volume up, let's get lost in a world of new music with another three brilliant acts on this latest episode of Freshly Squeezed: A New Music Podcast. Lees meer
Jim Salveson is behind the mic as he catches up with this weeks artists...
Martial Arts: Hot new Manchester band... that we're formed on a bus but are now one of the most promising acts in the North West. Music with a punk attitude but a indie pop heart where rage is wrapped up in catchy melodies and crunchy guitar hooks - one for fans of The Cribs!
Poesie: For fans of Madonna, Florence and The Machine and Kate Bush, Poesie has an ear as much for the theatric as she does for a catchy hook. The latest EP is a more confident and self assured version of what has come before.
Isaac Neilson: A singer/songwriter making headlines for his attempt to play a gig everyday in 2026... but one who's music should not be ignored. Creative storytelling with clever musical flourishes are central to Isaac's sound that translates brilliantly from studio recording to open mic!

Embrace, McGrath and Pihka Is My Name x IanGX all with new music!
1 juni 2026 · 26 min
Ready for a musical journey! All three of this weeks featured acts have very different musical styles but all have one thing in common, they're bloody awesome. Lees meer
Switch on, lock in, this is some of the good stuff...
Embrace: 30 years making music has not dulled the flame for Embrace. ‘Avalanche’ is an album brimming with a confidence that only 3 decades of mastery can bring. It somehow manages to push the bands sound to a fresh new place whilst being quintessentially “Embrace” at the same time.
McGrath: Stunning songwriting with a traditional Irish heart its almost impossible to think that 'Rotha', given how accomplished it is, is the debut song from this young talent. It's got us suitably excited about what is to come.
Pihka Is My Name x IanGX: Pinka's scandi disco pop layers brilliantly with the rock-inspired vocals of IanGX (Katalina Kicks / Amongst Liars) to create something somewhere between Talking Heads, Marilyn Manson and 30 Seconds To Mars. Ridiculously infectious and a tune to whet the appetite for further collaborations!

Rev and Makers: The latest offering from Jon McClure is a record that sounds both confident in its songwriting ability and comfortable in its own skin. The Rev is turning up the Northern Soul inspiration for new album ‘Is This How Happiness Feels’ and the result is a stand out LP from the bands 20 years making music.
The Gulps: European punk rock with a very UK sound. It’s easy to see why Mr Oasis, Alan McGee has chosen to back The Gulps and signed them to his Label, It’s Creation Baby. Mixing spikey punk vibes with strong melody in a way that is reminiscent of The Buzzcocks, ‘Got Ya’ is a tune you’ll struggle to sit still to!
Untold River: Combining the heart of England’s North West with the sounds of the US, Untold River pays tribute to his old and new homes with “Tragedy on Market Street” revealing some clever songwriting and brilliant musicianship.

MOSAICS, Asgard Raven and James Holt bring the new tunes!
18 mei 2026 · 37 min
James Holt: The best songwriter you've (probably) never heard of! James is swapping Beatles-esq harmonies for a heavier, Doors-esq, almost psychedelic sound for his new project and 'Sanguine On The Rocks' proves he's equally accomplished in either form. Lees meer
MOSAICS: Leaning into a classic late 00s indie vibe, MOSAICS layer big vocals, bright guitars along with a juxtaposed lyrical dread. "Heaven Knows" is taken from a triumphant debutEP from the London 4 piece.
Asgard Raven: Developing his Brit-pop inspired sound into something more complex, mature and maybe even psychedelic, Asgard Raven is back after a brief musical hiatus and music is a better place for it.

a.gris: Folk-Glitch is the new genre under which France's Alex Delamard (Hoorsees) is flying the flag of his new solo project. It's folk meets electronica for debut tune 'Oblivion', which has hints of Linkin Park meets Smashing Pumpkins, performed at a folk club and put through a 2025 filter!
The Bernadette Maries: Feeling a bit like a chilled Fontains DC at times, this Belgium band have firm roots in 90s indie! 'The Closer You Look' which would be right at home on a 90s post-punk shoegaze playlist.
Paul Nazole: Italian named but Liverpool bred, Paul Nazole is a bloody diamond in the musical rough. A modern interpretation of classic 60s/70s sounds akin to that of musical greats like The Beatles and Bob Dylan. Stunning songwriting. Great storytelling.
