Balance Selections 390: Gabriel & Dresden
30 oktober 2026 · 1 uur 31 min
For over 25 years, Gabriel & Dresden have occupied a distinctive space in electronic music, combining new wave melancholia with the euphoric energy of progressive house and trance. Formed in 2001, the American duo of Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden established themselves through emotionally charged productions and remixes, earning 21 Billboard Dance Club Play number ones along the way. Lees meer
Their catalogue includes enduring tracks such as As The Rush Comes, released under their Motorcycle alias, Tracking Treasure Down and Dangerous Power. More recently, their creative partnership with vocalist Sub Teal produced two albums, The Only Road and Remedy, with a remix of the former’s title track earning a Grammy nomination.
Drawing on decades of experience without becoming confined by nostalgia, Gabriel & Dresden continue to explore the emotional possibilities of dance music, balancing melodic introspection with the energy of the dancefloor.
On this edition of Balance Selections, the duo flex their considerable talents with a journey through the many shades of progressive music. Featuring tracks from Bicep, Simon Vuarambon, Guy J and more, this 90-minute excursion demands repeated listens.

[PREVIEW] Nick Warren - Run For Cover
23 oktober 2026 · 4 min
The title track ‘Run For Cover’ taps into the wide-eyed escapism of the mid-’90s without slipping into nostalgia. Psychedelic details flicker across the drums like LED trails in a dark room, while a restless walking bassline gives the whole thing a wonderfully physical pull. Elements drift in and out of focus, resisting an obvious genre tag while maintaining an easy, heads-down momentum. It’s progressive music in the literal sense: constantly moving, never particularly interested in announcing where it’s going next. Lees meer

[PREVIEW] Nick Warren - Stupa
22 oktober 2026 · 4 min
On “Stupa”, the mood opens outward. There’s an unmistakable Balearic quality to its sun-warmed percussion and serrated bassline,a groove that immediately suggests open-air dancefloors and late-afternoon light. A woozy synth gradually sends proceedings into more narcotic territory, while soft vocal fragments, keyboard flourishes and flashes of guitar keep one foot planted somewhere recognisably human. Nothing is hurried or overplayed. Instead, Warren lets each element breathe, resulting in the kind of patient, transportive dance music that comes from knowing exactly how little you need to do. [PREVIEW] D-SHIFT - Hikari
24 september 2026 · 4 min
On the optimistic ‘Hikari’, a rolling bassline drives the track forward with an infectious low-end pulse that will be difficult to ignore on the dancefloor. A stretched vocal sample drifts across uplifting melodic keys, creating a genuine feeling of space and freedom. In Japanese, hikari means “light”, a word often associated with hope, positivity and clarity. It’s a fitting title for a track that channels those exact qualities. Lees meer

[PREVIEW] D-SHIFT - Find A Way
24 september 2026 · 4 min
Lead cut ‘Find a Way’ draws on the genre’s classic foundations, built around a warm vocal sample and bubbling synths. Balance Selections 384: David Mayer
18 september 2026 · 1 uur 4 min
David Mayer’s sound reflects a life spent moving between cultures. Raised across Germany, Spain and Norway before settling in Berlin in 2004, he developed an approach to dance music that has never sat comfortably inside a single genre. House and techno form the foundation, but the real through-line is rhythm: funked-up low end, muscular four-on-the-floor grooves and a sense of swing that keeps even his deeper productions firmly connected to the dancefloor. Lees meer
As both a DJ and producer, Mayer favours music with weight and immediacy, balancing hypnotic detail with an instinct for hooks and forward motion. It’s a combination that has carried his work well beyond Berlin, while preserving the restless, open-ended character at the centre of his sound.
On this Balance Selections, the German producer stays true to form with a deep house-rooted 60-minute mix. Featuring tracks from Dino Lenny, The Deepshakerz, the late Nico Stojan and more, it’s an easy soundtrack for a day spent on an open-air dancefloor.

Balance Selections 383: Nichols+Roark
11 september 2026 · 2 uur 4 min
Nichols+Roark are a London-based DJ and production duo whose sound sits between progressive house, indie dance and melodic techno. Lees meer
Friends for more than 25 years, their music draws on a shared club history shaped by nights at venues and parties including Renaissance in Nottingham and Ibiza. Their releases have landed on labels including The Soundgarden, Mango Alley and Renaissance, while their 2019 track “Magnificent Creatures” was featured on Nick Warren’s Balance Presents The Soundgarden.
Recent years have also seen the duo develop Shift, their own label platform. Its official launch at Crane Faralda during ADE marks the next major step, with Shift Season 1 set to introduce a hand-picked roster of artists and new material in one of the pair’s favourite cities.
On this Balance Selections, the duo draw on their combined tastes for a two-hour mix featuring tracks from Mano Le Tough, Kamilo Sanclemente, Paul Hazendonk and more. The result is a hazy, hypnotic journey into the spacey fringes where indie dance meets progressive house.

28 augustus 2026 · 1 uur 8 min
CAMILA (AR) is an emerging electronic music artist from the province of Chaco, in northeastern Argentina. Lees meer
With a sound that is rooted in progressive house, she regularly explores the edges of the sound. It's a space where bright, emotive passages give way to darker, immersive stretches. The result is music built as much for introspection as the dancefloor.
It’s this ability that has seen her sign with Balance Music, with a forthcoming release set to further underline the depth and versatility of her sound.
On this Balance Selections, the producer has compiled a journey of deep progressive filled with colour. Featuring tracks from Morttagua, Andre Moret, Simply City & Solis [US] alongside a host of original productions, this is a 60-minutes plus of pure groove that never lets go.

'Astraea' is built around a melody that's utterly arresting. It dances and twinkles with a playful ease, weaving between notes like sunlight on water. Balance Selections 380: Diego Moreira
23 augustus 2026 · 2 uur 5 min
Diego Moreira has spent more than a decade refining a strain of progressive house built on dark protocols. Since 2018, his releases have carried that approach well beyond his native Argentina, earning regular support across specialist radio, clubs and the wider progressive circuit. Lees meer
Moreira’s music is defined less by obvious peaks than by the way it gets there: fluid, measured and always conscious of the journey.
On this Balance Selections, the Argentine delivers a set steeped in those same principles. Featuring music from Claudio Cornejo, Kyotto and Stas Drive, alongside a stack of unreleased material from Moreira himself, this is a proper journey into the more cerebral corners of progressive.

[PREVIEW] Eli Nissan - Empty Sky
24 juli 2026 · 4 min
On ‘Empty Sky’, the atmosphere stretches across a vast landscape of synths and plucked strings. The drums are warm and deeply inviting, a sure-tell sign that this is an Eli Nissan production. Drawing on a euphoric template reminiscent of vintage progressive, the track’s central melodic movement feels like pure bliss. As the title itself suggests, this is music designed to make you soar.
