Our Reactions To The 93rd Academy Awards
26 april 2021 · 1 uur 48 min
It was a rollercoaster of emotions as the 93rd Academy Awards concluded in a shocking upset for Best Actor that left a poor taste in many fans' minds after the producers made the decision to announce Best Actress & Best Actor after the Best Picture award (first time this had happened since the 1930s) all in hopes of a different outcome than what we received. The shock, anger and disgust of it all could be felt from all of us here at Next best Picture as we hopped on to discuss the show immediately following its conclusion. There's so much more to talk about and here to join me for it all I have Amanda Spears, Cody Dericks, Dan Bayer, Josh Parham, Daniel Howat, Ryan C. Showers & Michael Schwartz. This was originally going to be a Patreon exclusive podcast but we decided to release it in full for all of you to listen to. Thank you all for what was surely one of the most bizarre awards seasons any of us have ever experienced. We're not going anywhere after this as there will be more to discuss in the weeks ahead but for now, enjoy our initial reactions to the 2021 Oscars. Lees meer

For this month's Patreon Throwback Podcast review, Nicole Ackman, Dan Bayer, Lauren LaMagna & Danilo Castro and I are taking a look back at where it all began. Director Zack Snyder's first official entry into the DC Extended Universe began in 2013 with "Man Of Steel" and at the time it was met with a fairly positive reception. It rebooted the Superman franchise, introduced the world to Henry Cavill and launched a fanbase that has continued to be passionate supporters of the director's work and the DCEU, even if critics have been less kind, till this day. What did we think of this film? The performances from Cavill, Michael Shannon, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe? The crafts on display, including Hans Zimmer's score? Tune in below to find out as we prepare ourselves for the upcoming 4-hour long "Zack Snyder's Justice League." Enjoy!

"Promising Young Woman" has been nominated for four Golden Globe Awards including Best Picture, a SAG Award for Best Actress for Carey Mulligan and six Critics Choice Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress & Best Original Screenplay. One of the reasons why the film has been herald as one of the best of the year is due to the highly detailed and well thought out crafts. The Next Best Picture team took turns partaking in interviews with various members from the crew over the past few weeks and we are happy to have them all here together for your enjoyment. First up is Nicole Ackman's interview with the Costume Designer, Nancy Steiner. After that we have Daniel Howat's interview with the film's cinematographer Benjamin Kracun. Next we have Dan Bayer's interview with the production designer, Michael Perry. And finally, we have Will Mavity interviewing the Makeup and Hairstyling team, Daniel Curet and Angie Wells. There's a lot of ground to cover and I think once you're done you will understand why Emerald Fennell's directorial debut is deserving of all of its awards attention. Enjoy! Lees meer
