She Debated The Prophet saw
14 oktober 2019 · 34 min
In this khutbah our learned Sheikh touches on the four verses from Surah Mujadilah that Allah sent down in answer to a woman's lament to the Prophet SAW. Lees meer
Rather than Allah reprimanding the woman for debating with His Messenger Allah actually gives space to someone who is hurting. Allah scolds not the woman but the man who utters unacceptable speech that offended Allah Who named the womb with His own name - Ar-Rahman.
This is an important passage for the ummah of Muhammad SAW. Hold your tongue. Verbal abuse in families is not light. Remember Allah heard the conversation within those walls and Allah will hold to account verbal abuse in family relationships.

One should not be overjoyed in one’s lifetime. Whatever Allah has given you in this life should be used to build up your next life. What benefits me in this life should also benefit me in the Akhirah - that should be the motto of one’s life. Don't forget to take care of the portion which is your present life; it is our foremost responsibility - we should take care of our health, our bodies, etc. Allah wants us to have the best of this life and the Hereafter.
Allah has also asked us to be good with our tongues, speak kindly and not be a source of misery and trouble for others.

Please don't fight your spouse after this khutbah

Nouman Ali Khan delves into the topic of disputes between spouses which is sort of the norm these days. Lees meer
Allah gave guidance to mankind and is unbiased in His approach. In this Ayah below, Allah has illustrated the responsibilities of men and women alike without any bias.
“Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], strike them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand.”
Surah An Nisa, Verse 34
Men have been designated as the caretakers and the ones who strive and undergo labor to fulfill the needs of their wives in all manners - financially, emotionally and physically. On the other hand, women are expected to be good to their husbands, meaning that they should be the ones who should be a source of peace, calm, reconciliation, a voice of reason and reform. The husband should always look up to his wife to be a source of ending conflicts. They should also be the ones who should demonstrate an eagerness to do such acts that show their will to obey Allah SWT. -

Surah Al Ma'idah is the 5th Surah of the Qur'an and is one of the last Surahs to be revealed in the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Allah gave many stories in this Surah and one of them is the story of the two sons of Adam AS - Haabil and Qabil or Cain and Abel.

Nouman Ali Khan discusses the two great celebrations since the time of our Prophet ﷺ, especially Eid Ul Adha traces back to our father - Ibrahim AS. Lees meer
One of the names of our religion is called the Religion of Ibrahim. We have an added admiration, love and connection to Ibrahim AS. The more we know about our father, the more we become loyal to that heritage.
Allah sent numerous trials and tribulations on Prophet Ibrahim AS which he faced with a smile because of his undying faith in Allah and being subservient to Allah SWT. Allah continued to guide Ibrahim AS throughout the rest of his life.
We must also try to imbibe and inculcate this key characteristic from the life of Ibrahim AS which is to stay firm and steadfast in our pursuit of Deen and not surrender to the external deviations and distractions.

Dua for the Ummah
10 augustus 2019 · 26 min
Nouman Ali Khan delves into an explicit explanation for the Dua for the Ummah. Lees meer
Abu Hurairah RA that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Verily Allah the Exalted is pure. He does not accept but that which is pure. Allah commands the believers with what He commanded the Messengers. Allah the Almighty has said: "O you Messengers! Eat of the good things and act righteously" [23:51-53]. And Allah the Almighty also said: "O you who believe! Eat of the good things that We have provided you with" [2:167-172]. Then he (the Prophet) mentioned (the case of) the man who, having journeyed far, is disheveled and dusty and who stretches out his hands to the sky (saying): "O Lord! O Lord!" (while) his food was unlawful, his drink was unlawful, his clothing was unlawful, and he is nourished with unlawful things, so how can he be answered?"
This Hadith has very profound meanings. Firstly, Allah has all the attributes of perfection and completeness, free from any kind of shortcomings, weaknesses or needs. Allah commanded the Believers (Mu'minin) in an identical manner as He commanded the Messengers. Another point to be extracted from this Hadith is that Sadaqah is only accepted by Allah if it is from Halal sources. This is based on the principle that "Allah is pure and only accepts what is pure".
If we adhere to these points, In Sha Allah, it will lead us to be better Muslims with a profound level of Iman. Then our deeds will be described as 'at-tayyib'. We will then be the 'tayyibun', that is, pure and blessed by Allah.

Allah Decides Halal and Haram
5 augustus 2019 · 31 min
Nouman Ali Khan provides an elaborate lecture on Halal and Haram. Lees meer
Allah has put many things in this world for us to use and consume and yet we remain thankless and show ingratitude. Good things are Halal and impure and filthy things are made Haram for us. The Halal things are actually a preview of sorts of what we shall attain in Jannah.
Halal is that which means permitted, allowed, lawful, or legal. Haram is that which is forbidden and unlawful. Determining what is halal and haram was a major issue before the advent of Islam and hence, many items were permitted that were impure and harmful and many things were forbidden that was good and pure.
What happens when we knowingly or unknowingly forbid something for ourselves or for others but it is Halal from Allah? The answers are provided in the most simple and explicit manner.

The Next Generation Pays The Price
16 juni 2019 · 29 min
Nouman Ali Khan delves into the meaning of the following Ayah from the Qur'an:
“And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember the favor of Allah upon you - when you were enemies and He brought your hearts together and you became, by His favor, brothers. And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses that you may be guided.”
Surah Ale Imran, verse 103
Our attention and focus deviate from being Muslims first to fragmenting ourselves into groups and sects. Do not be obsessed with criticizing other groups for their choice of thought regarding the Shariah, but instead focus on being obedient to Allah, earning His Happiness and being good and respectful to humanity. Otherwise, we will be heading for a Fitnah of sorts and do not make this fragmentation a point of contention amongst each other. Lees meer -
Do not go into excess

Nouman Ali Khan delves into the topic of the Musrifeen - the people who go into excess. Lees meer
The word Israaf means to go what is beyond necessary. Israaf brings a lot of negative consequences into one’s life. Allah does not love those who indulge in Israaf. The following Ayah from the Qur'an delves into the aspect of Israaf:
“And when affliction touches man, he calls upon Us, whether lying on his side or sitting or standing; but when We remove from him his affliction, he continues [in disobedience] as if he had never called upon Us to [remove] an affliction that touched him. Thus is made pleasing to the transgressors that which they have been doing.”
[Surah Yunus, verse 12]
"Our Lord, forgive us our sins and the excess [committed] in our affairs and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people."
[Surah Ale Imran, verse 147]
When we fall into stressful times, we need to contemplate on what we were neglecting and what we were doing in excess. This is the principal part of our Deen. We need to bring deep reflections into our lives on our problems with Israaf and constantly strive to live in the middle path. -

Ramadan Gems 2019 - Night 19 - The Light of Revelation, Nur 'ala Nur
25 mei 2019 · 44 min
Nouman Ali Khan acquaints us with some of the important lessons with reference to Surah An Nur.
“Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth; a likeness of His light is as a niche in which is a lamp, the lamp is in a glass, (and) the glass is as it were a brightly shining star, lit from a blessed olive-tree, neither eastern nor western, the oil whereof almost gives light though fire touch it not – light upon light – Allah guides to His Light whom He pleases, and Allah sets forth parables for men, and Allah is Cognizant of all things.”
- Surah An Nur, verse 35
Light is a symbol of knowledge, enlightenment, and reflection while darkness is a symbol of ignorance. Allah is the light or the reflection of the skies and the earth which implies that everything in the Universe bears the signature of the Creator and Allah’s design is seen in everything in the Universe. The believers are able to perceive this light in the niche. For them, this light and wisdom is the example of a lamp which is a source of light. The fuel of this light-bearing lamp is their faith, which is the example of a blessed olive tree. They see the light through the parable of bright glass, though not directly exposed to it. The faith leads to the light of Wisdom. Allah increases the light of Wisdom for those who strive to see this light and keeps on increasing it for their guidance. Lees meer -

“And if [as much as] a whiff of the punishment of your Lord should touch them, they would surely say, "O woe to us! Indeed, we have been wrongdoers."-
Surah Al Anbiya, verse 46
One of the events on Judgement Day is that the people will look to those who are of high status to intercede for them with Allah SWT so that He might relieve them of this distress that they are suffering. So they will go to Adam AS, but he will excuse himself; then they will go to Nuh AS, but he will excuse himself; then they will come to Ibraaheem AS, but he will excuse himself; then they will come to Moosa AS, but he will excuse himself; then they will come to ‘Isa AS, but he will excuse himself. Then they will come to our Prophet ﷺ and he will say, “I am fit for that.” So he will intercede for the people in the place of gathering, so that judgement may be passed. -

It is He who has sent among the unlettered a Messenger from themselves reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book and wisdom - although they were before in clear error.”
- Surah Al Jumuah, verses 1 and 2
Nouman Ali Khan delves deep into the meaning of these verses and which is aimed at the Noble Prophet ﷺ. Lees meerThis verse begins with four of the Names of Allah - Al Malik, Al Quddoos, Al Azeez and Al Hakeem. After describing His attributes, He goes on to elaborate that He has appointed Muhammad ﷺ who is unlettered but he has to recite His Verses unto them and purify them, teach them the law (what is allowed and what is not) and then teach them the wisdom.
What is the proof that Allah had sent the Noble Prophet of the Islamic faith ﷺ? The validation is the Qur'an which gives proof of this.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recorded a testimony on the Day of Judgement - the Qur'an was abandoned. What does this mean? The Qur'an which came for the purposes mentioned above and we as an Ummah have failed to adapt or abide by any of these purposes.

Nouman Ali Khan delivers a beautiful lecture on the essential topic of Istighfar. Lees meer
The lecture begins with a comparison between Adam AS and Iblees. Adam AS and Iblees violated the commandments of Allah. But what differentiates them is what transpires after the sin has been committed? What were the key points of differentiation between the two?
How do we attain forgiveness of our sins? Nobody is perfect and everyone commits sins. So, we should take respite in the fact that Allah says that the best of the sinners are those who repent and seek the Mercy of Allah SWT. Allah loves the repentance of the sinner. If were to compile a list of the Names of Allah, the majority of the Attributes of Allah demonstrates the Mercy of Allah. Allah tells us to never be disheartened by our sins, as Allah says that He forgives all sins regardless of their nature. Assuming that Allah cannot forgive you is possibly the biggest sin that one can commit. We are in fact challenging Allah that He might not encompass you in His Infinite Mercy, Astaghfirullah. How can we then give up hope of forgiveness of Allah?

The legacy of Ibrahim AS has been encompassed with many enormous feats that he has accomplished in his lifetime. And when he accomplished all those incredible things at the end of all of them, Allah gave him a certificate. And there is an Ayah in Surah Al Baqarah which is about the certificate. Allah acknowledges that He tested Ibrahim AS thoroughly and at the end of all those tests he completed all of them and at the end of passing all those tests, Allah says to Ibrahim AS, that He was installing him as the Imam over people. Allah was making him a leader over people and a role model for humanity. This is the ultimate certificate and honor and the medal of honor that is being given to Ibrahim AS after he went through some very difficult tests. What a victory! Can anything be bigger in magnitude and stature than when Allah bestows honor upon someone!
Ibrahim AS is tested with his child Ismail AS, his wife and by the people of his time but he emerges unscathed in the wake of numerous adversities. This could be achieved only due to his unwavering belief in Allah and His Deen.

He begins with a detailed analysis and comprehension of the word - SubhanAllah. When is this blessed word uttered? Numerous examples are illustrated by which we decipher aptly its exact meaning.
The concept of the worship of the sun, the moon and stars in the Pre Islamic era is demonstrated. The purpose of this was to draw the attention of the people of his time about who is not temporary, and that is Allah SWT.
The next point of discussion is that of how the concept of sunrise and sunset is closely reminiscent is of our state of mind and our heart and different phases of our life.
“By the morning brightness. And [by] the night when it covers with darkness, Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you]. And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life].”
