3 november 2026 · 5 min
Daylight saving time (DST) It’s the practice of advancing your clocks by one hour during the spring and summer months, and then turning them back in the autumn and winter. The idea is to make better use of natural daylight and save energy. But some people question if it really works and if there are any advantages to us at all. Lees meer

In the UK, DST begins on the last Sunday of March and ends on the last Sunday of October.

Are fresh vegetables better for you than frozen ones?
1 november 2026 · 5 min
We often assume that fresh is best, but the reality is more complicated. It all depends on how vegetables are stored, how long they’ve been in transit, and even how they’re cooked. While fresh vegetables are packed with nutrients right after harvest, they can lose a significant amount of vitamins and minerals by the time they reach your plate. Lees meer
According to a 2023 study on UK consumer habits, nearly 90% of British consumers regularly buy frozen vegetables, showing a more balanced approach rather than overwhelmingly favoring fresh produce. Frozen vegetables are picked and frozen within hours, preserving up to 80% of their vitamin C, while fresh ones can lose up to 40% of their nutrients during storage and transport.
So, which option is healthier? Are frozen vegetables actually better than fresh ones? And what about cost and convenience?

Why is the brain our biggest sex organ?
1 november 2026 · 5 min

While hormones and physical attraction are important, it’s the brain that processes emotions, triggers pleasure, and coordinates physical responses. Lees meer
According to neuroscientists, every part of the brain is involved in sexuality. The hypothalamus regulates hormones, the amygdala processes emotions, and the prefrontal cortex influences decision-making and inhibition. When you meet someone and feel attracted to them, your brain releases a surge of dopamine, serotonin, and testosterone, creating feelings of pleasure and desire.

Why do we celebrate Halloween?
31 oktober 2026 · 4 min
Halloween is here and if you’re anything like us, you’ll be frantically doing some last-minute pumpkin carving or stocking up on sweets for trick-or-treaters. Maybe you’re going to a Halloween party dressed up as a ghost, witch or any other kind of spooky creature. But have you ever wondered where all these quirky customs came from? Lees meer
While Halloween seems like a very modern celebration, its origins actually go back well over 1000 years. It started out with an ancient Celtic festival called Samhain (Sow-in). As you may know, the Celts lived in the area that is now Ireland, the UK and the north of France. They would celebrate their new year on 1st November, a night on which they believed the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred, with the ghosts of the dead returning to earth.
Who were the first people to come up with the idea then? What about trick-or-treating and some of the other modern customs, where do they come from? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!
