  8. Are fresh vegetables better for you than frozen ones?

    1 november 2026 · 5 min

    Afspelen
We often assume that fresh is best, but the reality is more complicated. It all depends on how vegetables are stored, how long they’ve been in transit, and even how they’re cooked. While fresh vegetables are packed with nutrients right after harvest, they can lose a significant amount of vitamins and minerals by the time they reach your plate. Lees meer

According to a 2023 study on UK consumer habits, nearly 90% of British consumers regularly buy frozen vegetables, showing a more balanced approach rather than overwhelmingly favoring fresh produce. Frozen vegetables are picked and frozen within hours, preserving up to 80% of their vitamin C, while fresh ones can lose up to 40% of their nutrients during storage and transport.

  9. Why is the brain our biggest sex organ?

    1 november 2026 · 5 min

The brain plays a central role in desire, arousal, and sexual pleasure, but we don’t always realize just how much it influences our sex lives. While hormones and physical attraction are important, it’s the brain that processes emotions, triggers pleasure, and coordinates physical responses. Lees meer

According to neuroscientists, every part of the brain is involved in sexuality. The hypothalamus regulates hormones, the amygdala processes emotions, and the prefrontal cortex influences decision-making and inhibition. When you meet someone and feel attracted to them, your brain releases a surge of dopamine, serotonin, and testosterone, creating feelings of pleasure and desire.

    31 oktober 2026 · 4 min

    Afspelen
Halloween is here and if you’re anything like us, you’ll be frantically doing some last-minute pumpkin carving or stocking up on sweets for trick-or-treaters. Maybe you’re going to a Halloween party dressed up as a ghost, witch or any other kind of spooky creature. But have you ever wondered where all these quirky customs came from? Lees meer

While Halloween seems like a very modern celebration, its origins actually go back well over 1000 years. It started out with an ancient Celtic festival called Samhain (Sow-in). As you may know, the Celts lived in the area that is now Ireland, the UK and the north of France. They would celebrate their new year on 1st November, a night on which they believed the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred, with the ghosts of the dead returning to earth.

Who were the first people to come up with the idea then? What about trick-or-treating and some of the other modern customs, where do they come from? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

As it turns out, human fear of spiders may well be down to evolution. Researchers from Germany, Austria and Sweden looked into the question in more detail for a study published in Frontiers in Psychology in 2017. This may be because such creatures have historically provided a threat. Some other studies have also backed up the idea of an inherited fear of spiders.

  24. What’s the function of the perineum?

    27 oktober 2026 · 4 min

    Afspelen
The perineum is a group of muscles that works like a hammock, stretching from the pubic bone to the tailbone. To pinpoint its location, try coughing; you’ll feel a downward pressure in your lower abdomen. Lees meer

It provides support for your internal organs, like the rectum and bladder, and for women, the vagina and uterus. It also absorbs physical impact. For example, when you run, the increased abdominal pressure puts stress on the perineum, which can absorb shocks equal to four times your body weight. In men, it also plays a role in maintaining erections.

  33. What is kakeibo, the mindful Japanese budgeting method ?

There are a number of possible reasons why people don’t manage to save as much money as they would like. You might feel like money saving methods simply won’t ever work for you. Lees meer

Now if you’ve never heard the word fap before, let me spell it out to you. It’s basically an onomatopoeic slang term for male masturbation. According to Business Insider, the term first appeared in a web comic called Sexy Losers in 1999, to indicate the sound of a male character masturbating. An Urban Dictionary definition for the term was then added in 2002, and usage grew from the 2000s onwards. Lees meer
