Ep.#417 - Exorcist: Believer
24 februari 2024 · 1 uur 35 min
It takes a brave creative team to give Exorcist II: The Heretic a run for its money as worst "Exorcist" film, but at least part two was lovably batshit and a work of care and pearsonal vision, even if that vision was really weird. Exorcist: Believer on the other hand? Oof. You'll have to listen to find out. Lees meer

Ep.#405 - The Legend of the Roller Blade Seven
23 september 2023 · 1 uur 21 min
We're having an absolutely legendary Smalltember. First we covered The Legend of the Titanic, and now we're looking into The Legend of the Roller Blade Seven. Apparently they're legendary, but forgive us for being unfamiliar until now. It was made using a system RB7 star/co-writer/producer Scott Shaw dubbed "Zen Filmmaking." According to his wiki, this is a "style of filmmaking where no screenplay and scripts are used in the creation of a movie." We'll see if getting zen delivers a good movie, or whether it's better to... y'know... write things out and plan them ahead of time. Lees meer

9 september 2023 · 1 uur 32 min
Due to the ongoing WGA - SAG/AFTRA strikes, we’re hitting pause on current releases, and focusing on some films 90’s kids will remember. And while we doubt most Smalltember(vember?) movies are union signatories, we decided to keep the train a rollin' anyway and make this a 90s flashback Smalltember! We kick it off with 1999's Italian-Korean-American co-production The Legend of the Titanic -- a bizarre attempt to cash in on James Cameron 1997 mega-blockbuster Titanic, in the form of an animated film featuring a similar star-crossed romance, but with a lot more talking animals. Ep.#402 - The Net
12 augustus 2023 · 1 uur 21 min
Due to the ongoing refusal of the AMPTP to negotiate in good faith with the WGA or with our union brothers and sisters in SAG/AFTRA, we've decided to hit pause on discussing more current releases, since (in our own bizarro way) it could promote that work. Instead, we're using this opportunity to go back in time and discuss some silly releases from the past, starting out with some films 90's kids will remember. This week, we're discussing 1995's Sandra Bullock techno-thriller The Net, a movie about the horrors of the internet that seemed prescient and terrifying at the time, and now just seems kind of goofy, considering that the horrors of the internet were way different than those it imagines. Ep. #400 - Troll 2
15 juli 2023 · 2 uur 9 min
It's a goddamn milestone -- 400 mainline episodes over 16 years of The Flop House! (And that's not counting all of the FH Minis, and the Movie Minutes of yore!) Thus, we took a break from our usual modus operandi of watching less-artistically-successful modern movies, and we treated ourselves with one of the classics of the bad movie canon (so much so that it's the topic of the extremely enjoyable documentary Best Worst Movie). That's right: we're talking about TROLL 2, the film that has absolutely nothing to do with the original Troll other than a title and a fondness for rubber creatures!! It's been memed! It's been giffed! And now it's been Flop Housed! Lees meer

Ep. #399 The Super Mario Bros. Movie
1 juli 2023 · 2 uur 2 min
Is this the most popular, highest-grossing movie we've ever done? Possibly! We're too lazy to put in the legwork to check. Why don't YOU do it, for a school project about statistics or economics or some shit. Anyway, the point is, we used the "or CRITICAL flop" loophole (42 on Metacritc) so we could watch The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Don't at us. Or do, whatever, we're not your dad. Lees meer

Ep# 397 - 65
3 juni 2023 · 1 uur 31 min
It's got Adam Driver! It's got dinosaurs! It's got a numerical title that sounds like a sports biopic and makes the title of this podcast episode look confusing! What more do you want? Well, it turns out that 65 needs a LITTLE more than all that to be a real movie, but at least it's out there trying. Lees meer

Episode #396 - 80 for Brady
20 mei 2023 · 1 uur 57 min
We watch a film about four octogenarian women going to the Super Bowl, because apparently that's a full concept for a movie these days? Like, just... older people seeing football? That's a movie? Anyway, it's called 80 for Brady and we watched it. One of us even liked it, so if you enjoy listening to the other two being dumbfounded, this is the episode for you. Lees meer
