120. Relational Aggression at School
17 november 2025 · 37 min
In this episode I have the pleasure of interviewing Julie Rainer on the topic of relational aggression in schools. Julie is a school counselor and founder of IMPACT Kids Coach. Julie helps children and parents navigate tricky friendships, relational aggression, and the hidden side of bullying. She's spent years working with kids from early childhood through high school, and has developed a practical framework that teaches kids how to recognize harm, respond with confidence, and repair relationships. She's also a mom of four, so she brings both professional insight and real-life parenting perspective. Lees meer

116. The Ambitious Dads Movement - Interview with Jeff Hittner
20 oktober 2025 · 42 min
Meet Jeff Hittner. He's the founder of the Ambitious Dads Project and has interviewed over 200 dads to learn more about the gaps in fatherhood that challenge the connection many are seeking with their kids. Lees meer
In Jeff's own words, Fatherhood cracked me open in ways I never expected — and showed me how unprepared most of us are for the emotional work it demands. After learning I couldn't be a biological father, I wrestled early with the fear that I might screw up my kids before they even existed — a feeling every dad, in one way or another, eventually comes to know. 108. The Wild Robot wisdom we didn't expect but need to hear!
25 augustus 2025 · 8 min
I know this movie is from last year but I will watch it over and over again. It's so good! If you haven't seen it, The Wild Robot will validate all of your parenting feelings! :) Lees meer
In this week's episode I break down a scene where the main robot shares how she's reprogrammed herself in order to show up for the child she needs to care for. It's an incredible validation that we are globally stepping into a new knowledge of how this relationship thrives. We are no longer doing things because "that's the way they've always been done." We are now consciously aware that this relationship takes work…but the work starts internally for us as the parent.

107. Shift Happens when we look for the "try"
18 augustus 2025 · 8 min
It is so easy to correct our kids over and over. Especially when it's the same repetitive behavior that is beyond annoying. However this is RESULTS focused correction. And when we don't get the results we want, we get angry, we get annoyed, and OUR default pattern of reaction comes pouring out. *And lets be honest, probably with greater intensity than it deserves because of our emotional trigger. Lees meer
In this week's shift happens episode I talk about shifting away from the results and looking more towards the TRY. When we notice our kids trying we can see that they are in fact shifting in the direction of the results we're after. But we're giving it time and we're not loading on the shame.
This is a quick mental reframe and I hope it serves you as much as it served me!

104. Threats on a road trip
28 juli 2025 · 17 min
On a 5 hour road trip my boys started fighting over the most benign thing…a book. I share the annoying details, the default patterns we fell into when we hit our breaking point, and ultimately what I did to recover the moment. Lees meer
It highlighted for me just how important it is to have regulation practices built into the day. How they cannot be back burner, "if I can get to it today" actions. These moments in parenting show us our tolerance level. And we are only as effective as we are regulated. Knowing that everything is tied to the nervous system it's crucial we adopt nervous system regulation practices as parents. It's the way through the tough moments.
If you haven't already joined, head over to Fast Way To Regulate (just below) and dive in. You'll get a masterclass in regulation practices and be able to read your patterns faster and faster as you begin to embody regulation practices into your life.

103. The reason it's not working
21 juli 2025 · 20 min
In this episode I share more about that really frustrating cycle of trying something to break a negative cycle, it not going well, and then how we can often compare our journey to others - which creates more shame, self judgement, and tends to further solidify the negative pattern we're trying to get rid of in the first place. Lees meer

7 april 2025 · 40 min

This parent was really struggling with their toddler falling on the ground and using their weight against them in the middle of a tantrum. We've all been there, when we say no to something and our toddler all the sudden goes completely dead weight and falls to the ground in a full meltdown.
This can be very triggering, embarassing and frustrating. I share how we can soften in these moments by understanding our children's developmental abilities and the steps I would take to move through this moment and maintain connection as well as teach them the behavior I would like to see going forward.
I hope this episode is supportive and gives you some insights into managing these really annoying tantrums we experience throughout our kid's development.

83. Realistically what this work looks like
3 maart 2025 · 26 min
It's easy to think that everyone else has it figured out as a parent. That you are the only one failing and have totally messed up your kid. That every time you yell or threaten you have to go back to the drawing board and start completely over. Lees meer
In this episode I share a rough moment with my son. I share how I fell back into old patterns and how I totally forgot to use every skill at my fingertips.

I share exactly what I did to turn the sinking ship around and the outcome of that. How this work has truly changed the trajectory of our relationship.\

82. Stop looking to your kids to validate your parenting
24 februari 2025 · 17 min
In this week's episode I share a subtle thing I've noticed across all the parents I work with. A little hiccup that keeps us stuck, that keeps us in a frustrated power loop and draws us back into conflict with our kids. Lees meer
It's this longing and almost expectation that our kids are going to validate our hard work as parents. We've done so much work, we're putting in a tremendous amount of effort and we still get yelled at, we still get pushback, we still get their aggression. It can feel so defeating and frustrating. It can make us question whether what we are doing as parents is the right thing for our kids.
And it makes it 10x easier to revert back to the old patterns that we grew up with: yelling, shaming, threatening etc.

81. How curiosity builds respect
17 februari 2025 · 22 min
I get a lot of haters in my comments. And while that comes with the territory and seems to be the cultural norm these days, I have to believe we can speak to each other differently. And while I'm not a saint, and clap back at times, I do try to practice what I preach. And that is to get curious as to why the person is saying what they're saying. You'll see me write "I'm curious…" to start many of my responses. Lees meer

78. The OTHER "F" Word…Friends
27 januari 2025 · 15 min
This episode explores friendships. My son had a run in with his "best friend" and he was essentially told "you're not my friend." So wounded and so confused he felt blindsided by this. He admires this kid so much and truthfully this kid is awesome. I totally get why my son wants to be his bestie. But this kid already has a bestie who loves all the same things he loves, is lock step with this kid and it shows. My son shares a few similar interests but not a lot. Lees meer
When I was able to share the "Capital F" and "Lowercase f" framework with him it allowed him to see that his worth wasn't dependent on the approval of this one kid. And that true friendship doesn't require constantly proving yourself, fear that they're going to ditch you any second, or any type of coercion to be friends. Real "Capital F" friends like you for you. They accept you, they enjoy being with you and they are willing to work on the challenging things.
I hope this supports you when you run into the inevitable friendship challenges.

77. Parenting with External Stress
20 januari 2025 · 24 min
This is possibly the most important episode I've ever made. Lees meer
After experiencing the unrelenting stress of fires, arsonists, hurricane force winds + fire was almost too much for the human body to bear witness too. Most everyone in LA right now is walking around as a zombie. We are in "low power mode" and from what I've heard from almost everyone, "we're just putting one foot in front of the other." Many of us know at least 1 person who lost everything. Many of us know 20+ people who only have the clothes they evacuated in. It's devastating.
However, the focus of this episode is not the fires. The focus of this episode is the incredible wisdom we hold in our bodies that has been biologically primed to keep us safe when our stress levels surpass our threshold. And unfortunately for every parent in America today, that threshold is maxing out regularly. So this episode focuses on understanding WHY our bodies do what they do. And how you can actively participate in what your body is doing so you can support yourself and your goals as a parent even further.
Please feel free to reach out to me, share this with a friend and once again, thank you for being here.
